After completing almost 11 months since he announced his retirement, Call of Duty legend Seth “Scump” Abner, currently a content creator at OpTic Gaming, wants to return to play competitively in Modern Warfare 3.

This is, without a doubt, news that the whole community has been waiting for, considering the great reception that MW3 has had so far. Likewise, let’s remember that what we played several weeks ago was the game’s beta, so Activision must have kept the main course for the launch of MW3 on November 10.

On the other hand, it is also true that all athletes, whether in esports or traditional sports, will never lose the desire and desire to compete. Even after retirement, many of them decide to return due to the lack of adrenaline in their new stages of life. As a result, this is the case of Scump, who has not completely left the game, but now it seems he wants to return to compete.

Scump and his time at Apex and VALORANT

After his retirement at the beginning of 2023, Scump became a content creator for OpTic Gaming by sharing his Apex Legends and VALORANT games. Even a few months ago, the CoD legend and multiple times world champion said he wanted to reach the highest and most important rank in Apex.

Similarly, in an interview with one of the CDL Majors, Scump admitted that his decision to retire may have been “too soon,” but he completely shut down the chances of returning to the league.

However, on this eve of the MW3 launch, all indications are that Scump has opened that airtight door, as he wants to return to competition.

Scump forms an MW3 Challengers squad

First, let’s remember that many players use the Challengers scene to show all their skills and qualities to attract the attention of different teams in the CDL. As a result, we can say that it is a “development” league for players to compete at a higher level and get closer to fulfilling their dream of becoming professionals.

Now, in one of his latest broadcasts, Scump pointed out that his Challengers team in MW3 would consist of Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, Marcus “MBoZe” Blanks, and Anthony “Methodz” Zinni. As we note, they are purely retired players, but Scump stated they would be the “favorite” team of the Americas in the Challengers scene.

Similarly, Scump also said that this team would not take competitions, matches, and tournaments seriously, i.e., it would be just for pure fun. In addition, he also mentioned that the team would not compete in any major tournaments, but winning matches and lower-level tournaments would be a satisfaction for them.

Likewise, we would have to wait for the 2023/24 season to start in both the CDL and Challengers scene officially. We could have a revival of ambitions from Scump and his “not serious” MW3 team.
