European organization GIANTX has announced its newest recruit, Semyon “purp0” Borchev, to complete its roster ahead of 2024. The Russian will replace Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas in the international squad.

The GIANTX organization is relatively new in the Valorant scene, only making an entrance to the game on December 14, 2023. The organization has only participated in a single tournament, the regional VCT 2023: EMEA Kickoff.

Despite being a recently developed roster, the GIANTX Valorant squad boasts a few notable names, including Valorant champion Igor “Redgar” Vlasov and former G2 Esports player Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas.

The new kids on the block could not stand up to their competition in the Kickoff tournament, losing their Group Stage matches to Karmine Corp and FUT Esports, both 1-2. Though the roster took a map off the eventual winners of the event, it still did not avoid a last-place finish in the tournament.

The international roster is looking to solve its issues by bringing in an explosive player in the form of Semyon “purp0” Borchev. The 21-year-old previously played for a Spanish organization, KPI Gaming. However, he could only participate in B-Tier tournaments with the roster, not managing to make a name for himself internationally.

Still, purp0 was easily the best player in the team and in the tournaments he participated in. He would almost always be the highest-rated player in matches he played.

Borchev previously had a minor stint with former Gambit Esports roster, M3 Champions, where he played alongside current in-game leader Igor “Redgar” Vlasov. Unfortunately, during his time with the world champions, purp0 could not achieve much.

The updated GIANTX Valorant roster is as follows:

  • Kirill “Cloud” Nehozhin
  • Adolfo “Fit1nho” Gallego
  • Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas
  • Igor “Redgar” Vlasov
  • Semyon “purp0” Borchev

The roster is set to debut in the Champions Tour 2024: EMEA Stage 1, where they will face the strongest teams in the European region. Unfortunately, they have drawn Karmine Corp as their first opponents, the strongest team in the region, in the past few months, at least.

Fortunately, GIANTX is a partnered team, meaning they did not have to qualify for tournaments through the Ascension stage. This gives the team some room for error, but the team will try its best to avoid an early elimination.
