Roobet Cup day 1 results

Day 1 of Roobet Cup 2023 ended with four predictable results. In both groups, the favorites did a good job and ended up winning, even though their opponents caused them some serious headaches.

One noteworthy aspect of this day is that all of the four matches needed three maps to conclude. So even though the MR12 decreases map duration by around 10 minutes on average, it seems that it can increase the overall match duration by causing some unexpected defeats.

In Group A, both Heroic and FURIA Esports lost their opening map. The same thing happened in group B, where the favorites, Movistar Riders and Virtus.pro, lost the first map and had to make a comeback.

The MR12 format makes the skill difference between teams a lot less significant because there are fewer rounds in which you can use your superior knowledge of the game. If the underdog wins the pistol rounds, they’re already six rounds ahead of you without having to be the stronger team.

Group A results

This group started with the match between Heroic and Aurora Gaming. Heroic are currently going through massive internal problems. After cadiaN got benched, some of the remaining players rebelled and had to be benched as well. The whole situation brought in dupreeh, as well as some other stand-ins from MOUZ NXT.

The match was a thriller. Map 1 ended after overtime with a score of 14-16 for Aurora. On the next two maps, Aurora continued to play well but Heroic figured out their strategy and then crushed them. The best player on the server was TeSeS from Heroic, while Dupreeh did a great job as well.

FURIA lost the first map in overtime after having a 9-3 advantage halfway through. On the next two maps, their playstyle was a bit better and they won without too many problems. FalleN’s performance was really good. He wasn’t the best on the server but he played with a lot of confidence and ended the match with a KD score of 58-43.

Group B results

In group B, the match between Movistar and 9z had one star, who caried the Spanish team to an important victory. That star was mopoz, whose KD score was 51-46.

In the second match, Virtus.pro lost the first map against Team Spirit but then played much better on the 2^nd and 3^rd. Jame’s AWP kills were absolutely superb. He ended the match with a KD score of 48-29, the best on the server.
