While it is true that we are in the offseason of the VCT around the world, Riot Games planned a break where many teams can showcase or prepare for the next season.

The Red Bull Home Grounds 4 is one of the tournaments played this offseason, which will be held in Tokyo, Japan, in the first week of November 2023. This full LAN tournament will pit VCT teams against other Level 2 and 3 teams from the VALORANT competitive scene in Japan.

As a result, we will have the opportunity to see local Japanese talent and new lineups from some of these VCT teams.

Red Bull Home Grounds 4 – Details

As announced by Riot Games on August 12, 2023, this VCT offseason will feature more than 40 events in preparation for the upcoming season. Red Bull Home Grounds 4 is one of them and will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from November 3-5, 2023.

All of us who follow the VALORANT scene remember that in 2022, a similar tournament was played in the UK, specifically in Manchester, where 100 Thieves managed to lift the champions trophy. However, this time, the VALORANT competitive scene returns to Tokyo after an extraordinary experience of the VCT Masters Tokuo 2023 to pit Riot’s franchise teams against the best Japanese teams.

As the name suggests, this tournament is sponsored by Red Bull and will be played in a 100% LAN environment. While it is true that there are only 8 participating teams, 6 of them belong to the VCT in the different regions of the world, so we expect a very intense competition and, above all, a high level.

On the other hand, this will be the debut of new squads of some VCT teams that have made changes this offseason after the VCT Champions 2023.

Participating teams

The 8 teams participating in the Red Bull Home Grounds 4 are the following:

  • 100 Thieves
  • ZETA DIVISION
  • Cloud9
  • SCARZ
  • DRX
  • Fnatic
  • FÜT Esports
  • FENNEL

Format

Like many 8-team tournaments on the VALORANT scene, Red Bull Home Grounds 4 will be played in two phases: the Group Stage and the playoffs.

As expected, the Group Stage starts on the tournament’s first day, i.e., November 3, 2023, at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena. In addition, the format will be a Swiss Stage with all matches to the best of one (BO1). Finally, the 6 best teams in this stage will advance to the playoffs.

Likewise, it is worth noting that the first and second classified in this Group Stage advance directly to the tournament’s semifinals.

However, once in the playoffs, all matches will be played in a Single-Elimination format, with all games being best-of-3 (BO3), except the Grand Final, which will be played in best-of-five (BO5).

For now, the first matches of the tournament have not yet been announced. However, be that as it may, we are sure we will have excitement from start to finish.
