Nigma Galaxy lost several superstars in the last few months and now they’ve announced their replacements. One of them is Kasra “Mikey” Mesbah from Iran and the other is Yuma “Yuma” Langlet from Nicaragua.

Mikey’s experience is quite limited but we did get to see him play as a stand-in for Shopify Rebellion at DreamLeague Season 19, where SR finished third. Arguably, his performance was quite impressive given the fact that almost nobody had heard about him prior to this event.

Yuma is a 22-year-old who previously played for Hokori, Infinity, Team DogChamp, and D2 Hustlers. He is said to be a strong carry with a lot of potential, but we’ll have to see what he can do in WEU’s Division II in Tour 3 of Dota Pro Circuit.

Nigma Galaxy’s troubles

Nigma Galaxy struggled a lot in the last several seasons and their results were almost completely irrelevant. In 2022, they finished Tour 2 in eighth place in Division I and for the first time ever, Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi got relegated to Division II. Fortunately for him, Nigma got back to Division I for the start of DPC 2023.

But the fun only lasted for two Tours. In Tour 1, Nigma Galaxy avoided relegation by finishing sixth. In Tour 2 they weren’t so lucky and finished last. Now they will place in Division II again and hope for the best. If they can’t promote to Division I, there’s little hope for them in 2024.

But even if they do promote, the odds of Nigma qualifying for The International 12 are minimal. And without going to TI, their Dota 2 adventure is not viable from a financial standpoint.

For KuroKy, Maroun “GH” Merjej, and Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov, that’s not a problem because they’re all multi-millionaires. But for Yuma and Mikey it might be. Although, to be fair, it’s not as though they won big tournaments before joining Nigma, so they too are probably used to the struggle of being a Dota 2 player in today’s world.

The players that Nigma lost in the last six months are Sumail “Sumail” Hassan, Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf, and Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi. All of them are formidable but the roster wasn’t functional for some reason.

Nigma had the odds in their favor and yet, in the actual matches, they were not good enough to beat the best teams in Western Europe. Hopefully for KuroKy, the new roster will do much better.
