KOI and KCorp kick off VCT 2023 EMEA LCQ in style

The VCT 2023 EMEA LCQ is now underway and after two matches played on the first day of the tournament, KOI and Karmine Corp earned a spot in the semifinals of the Upper Bracket.

On the other hand, it is worth noting that the 2023 VCT season has ended for both Team Heretics and BBL Esports, who gave their all to get the victory, but it was not enough in this tournament. As a result, we now have only four teams left fighting for the two places in VALORANT Champions 2023 that are shared in this tournament.

KOI crush Team Heretics in a spectacular Spanish derby

There is no doubt that the first match of this tournament, the Spanish derby between KOI and Team Heretics, had a lot of emotions in store, and so it was. It was a match with a lot of intensity and, above all, a lot of emotions, where KOI prevailed to take the victory and stay alive in their fight for a place in the VALORANT Champions 2023. In the first half, Team Heretics started strong on their attacking side to take the 7-5 victory. However, at the change of sides, starxo woke KOI to win eight of the nine contested rounds to take the 13-8 victory.

On the second map, Pearl, KOI started very well in the first half and used the confidence and momentum from the win in Fracture to take a solid 8-4 partial victory. Then, at the change of sides, the roles changed, as this time, it was Team Heretics who implemented an extremely solid defense to prevent KOI’s attacks. As a result, Team Heretics took the 13-10 victory to force the third map of the series.

Haven decides it all

Finally, the teams met on Haven, the decisive map, where we observed great play from both sides. However, KOI started on the right foot by winning the first half, again, with a score of 8-4. Then, as the sides switched sides, KOI held firm to their style and level of play to win the remaining five rounds to take the win 13-6.

Karmine Corp apply a reverse sweep against BBL Esports

The second match of the day saw KCorp come from behind to take a 2-1 win over the Turkish BBL Esports to stay alive in the tournament. KCorp started with many doubts in this series, which the BBL Esports boys took advantage of to perfection. However, they then reacted and completed the reverse sweep to advance to the Upper Bracket semifinals.

It all started in Haven, the BBL Esports map pick, where we saw an extraordinary performance from both teams. The first half ended with an 8-4 partial victory for KCorp, making us think the team was at its best. However, the Turkish squad woke up and hit back perfectly to even the score 12-12, sending the match to Overtime. Ultimately, BBL Esports won the first two Overtime rounds to take the victory 14-12.

On the second map, Lotus, history came close to repeating itself, but this time, KCorp could hold strong and win. After a 7-5 win in the first half, the French squad managed to deploy a very good offense to take the 13-9 victory and thus even the series 1-1.

KCorp complete reverse sweep

Finally, KCorp completed the reverse sweep on Bind in a match filled with many emotions and a lot of intensity. As happened in the first map of the series, KCorp started very well with a 7-5 partial victory. Then, at the change of sides, BBL evened the score again by 12-12 to send the map to Overtime.

Finally, Karmine Corp prevailed in Overtime to win the first two rounds to take the 14-12 victory.
