Two new cards from the Shadow Isles have just been unveiled and, needless to say, they’re the perfect kind of support for Viego, the Ruined King! Whether they’ll end up making him more viable upon release still remains to be seen, but the potential is certainly there!

The Ruination begins in just a couple of days (July 14th), so we’re bound to find out sooner rather than later!

Legends of Runeterra | New Viego Support Revealed!

Invasive Hydravine is a 7 mana unit from the Shadow Isles with 7 | 6 and Fearsome. Once it is brought onto the board (and at the start of every round), it’ll summon an Encroaching Mist.

Withering Mist is a 5 mana Slow spell that’ll drain 2 HP from 2 enemies.

First of all, these two cards might not seem all that potent, but you really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Invasive Hydravine is, simply put, spectacular. It’s the perfect kind of support for Viego and will no doubt function as a linchpin in many SI decks going forward.

The main strategy behind Viego revolves around summoning as many Encroaching Mists as possible; Invasive Hydravine is therefore quite a natural (and beefy) catalyst.

More importantly, though, it can be paired with Overgrown Snapvine to result in a truly OP combo. You’ll basically get a Mist, use its effect, then remove it from the board and get a Snapwine (5 | 3) instead. Quite potent, to say the least!

Withering Mist will also come in handy as an excellent anti-aggro spell, but it’s fair to say that SI decks already have an abundance of options to choose from.

In any case, we’re extremely happy with what Riot has shown thus far and can’t wait to test these cards out ourselves on July 14th! We’re really being spoiled here, and there are two more reveals left — hopefully Riot has something memorable in store! As always, we’ll be back with more coverage in a couple of hours, so stay tuned!
