The last Major of the Call of Duty League 2023 season is over, and the New York Subliners closed the season as they started it with a victory.

Many were tipping other teams, such as OpTic, LA Thieves, Atlanta FaZe, and even Toronto Ultra, as favorites to win Major V. However, the Subliners were quiet throughout this main event and beat Atlanta FaZe 4-3 in the grand finale to become the tournament champions.

A mention must be made to the Minnesota RØKKR, who were very close to advancing to the grand final of the Major V, but were crushed by FaZe and Subliners in the Upper and Lower Bracket finals.

Let’s see what happened on the last day of the CDL 2023 Major V.

Recap of the last day of CDL Major V

On the last day of the Major V, we enjoyed four matches, including the Grand Final match between Atlanta FaZe and NY Subliners.

It all started with the Winners Bracket final match between Atlanta FaZe and Minnesota RØKKR, where Atlanta gave a great blow on the table after taking an excellent 3-0 victory. Then, Toronto Ultra and NY Subliners gave us a truly spectacular match, where the Subliners defeated the home team 3-2 to advance to the final of the Elimination Bracket.

Finally, NY Subliners beat RØKKR 3-0 to qualify for the Major V final against Atlanta FaZe.

NY Subliners vs. Atlanta FaZe – Grand Final recap.

The two best teams of the tournament met in a grand final worthy of a truly spectacular tournament as this Major V was.

It all started in Embassy (Hardpoint), where Atlanta FaZe took an excellent victory by 250-234 to start the grand final on the right foot. The Subliners then hit back immediately to even the series 1-1 at Breenbergh Hotel (Search&Destroy) with an excellent 6-2 victory.

Atlanta FaZe would not let that stand, as they moved 2-1 ahead in the series thanks to a hard-fought 3-1 win at Himmelmatt Expo (Control). However, just as happened in the second game of the series, the Subliners woke up immediately and took a resounding victory at Breenbergh Hotel (Hardpoint) by 250-187.

Unlike the third map, the Subliners got ahead on the scoreboard 3-2 this time after a tight 6-5 win at El Asilo (Search&Destroy). As expected, the Atlanta FaZe boys did not give up and, again, in El Asilo, but this time in Control, they evened the series 3-3 to take the grand final to the seventh and decisive map.

Finally, it was at Mercado Las Almas (Search&Destroy) where the Subliners took an excellent 6-3 victory to proclaim themselves champions of Major V. In addition, this is the second title of this team in the season since they were the champions of Major I.
