Controversies continue in the Asian regions of the Dota 2 competitive scene. This time, several players have been banned from DPC SEA Qualifiers due to a new case of account sharing.

Asian regions are immersed in a lot of trouble lately in the Dota 2 scene. Many players have been banned for life due to match-fixing, account sharing, etc. Now, at the Open Qualifiers for the DPC SEA Tour 3, two teams from Malaysia, specifically Dino Esports and Team Ancient, were caught in a case of account sharing.

EPULZE announce disqualification of Dino Esports and Team Ancient

Through its Twitter account, EPULZE, the DPC 2023 SEA Summer Tour Open Qualifiers organizer, announced the disqualification of Dino Esports and Team Ancient for Account Sharing.

As a result, five players who have been involved in this new case of account sharing have been banned for life by EPPULZE.

  • Koh “Zoro” Chin Poh
  • Tee Clarky Wen Xiang
  • Hong “Turbo” T.
  • Kevin “SonG-” L.
  • Liew “wh” H.

On the other hand, the other five players who have been banned indefinitely by EPULZE but are pending “extensive investigation” are as follows:

  • SuicideSheep
  • Fz
  • SW
  • Afterdark^^
  • Jman

SEA DPC Tour 3 gets off on the wrong foot

As mentioned, the SEA region’s Dota 2 competitive scene can’t escape controversies and problems regarding match-fixing and account sharing. In just one day of Open Qualifiers competition, we already have two teams disqualified and their players banned for life or indefinitely.

While it is true that Dino Esports was eliminated very early in the tournament, Team Ancient had already written their name in the tournament’s quarterfinals.

The ten Malaysian players banned by EPULZE are not well known in the Dota 2 scene. However, they have been banned from the tournament; their teams will most likely do the same, and the ban by Valve will likely come very soon.

This announcement comes after more than two months when Valve announced the expulsion of 46 professional Dota 2 players from the Asian regions of China and SEA. However, on that occasion, players and teams recognized in the scene, such as Knights and EHOME, were included.

We can only wait for Valve’s announcement regarding these ten banned players. In addition, we are also awaiting the outcome of EPULZE’s investigation of the five players under investigation.

On the other hand, this is just a sample of what can happen in the competitive scene of Dota 2; more and more cases of cheating in matches can weaken the scene completely.
