The latest installment in Netflix’s The Witcher: Blood Origin, was released recently and was not well-received by fans and critics alike. Above all, the fans have really torn the series up in the air. The Witcher: Blood Origin stars Hollywood star Michelle Yeoh, who definitely deserves better than this tepid and poorly produced sequel.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is a limited series set in the same universe as the main series and both are based on the books by author Andrzej Sapkowski. However, Blood Origin takes place well before the events of the original television series, and is about the creation of the first Witcher.

The poor rating is no accident and is the result of various factors related to the series, the original books, and the former Superman actor Henry Cavill.

Ultra bad reviews for Witcher sequel

Judging by the critics’ ratings, The Witcher: Blood Origin shouldn’t have been filmed in the first place. It’s one of the lowest-rated shows on Netflix and the viewership is low. Unfortunately, bad series, sequels or films are often the result of the sheer greed of producers and companies who want to squeeze the popularity of books and games down to the last drop. More often than not, however, not a good title comes of it.

Are Henry Cavill fans out for revenge?

Nevertheless, you have to take a closer look at the reasons for the lousy rating. Some fans are angry Henry Cavill fans, still upset that the actor is no longer with us. Others are Witcher fans who remain frustrated with how Netflix is handling the original footage on its projects.

Viewer irritation at the way a series treats its source material has become a hot topic among many video game fans. The same applies to the Resident Evil series (Netflix) and the Halo series (Paramount), which, according to many fans, have strayed too far from the original works.

Quality crisis in the film industry

However, the extremely low viewer rating of just eight percent on Rotten Tomatoes is very noticeable. Not only disgruntled Henry Cavill fans seem to have given a bad vote, but other people as well. And if you look at the series like this, you’ll quickly come to the conclusion that it’s just badly done. Michelle Yeoh or not. She couldn’t save the sinking ship either.

Reading through the fan reviews, many complain that it is boringly written and too slow in story development. It seems that Netflix often gets it wrong and it almost looks as if the entire film industry is in crisis. A quality crisis. More and more content is being produced and often old topics are heartlessly rehashed like a sad Christmas turkey. Unfortunately, it has now caught the Witcher as well.
