One of the legends of CS:GO and a member of that Astralis lineup that won it all several years ago, Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth, said that he is ready to return to the top-level competitive scene in CS2.

Let’s remember that Xyp9x has 3 months playing in the Astralis reserve squad, i.e., in Astralis Talent, and he has even been on the bench of the academy team in several tournaments. However, the Dane believes he still has the talent and skills to be in any Tier 1 team in the new CS2 era.

Undoubtedly, one of the best clutch players in the world would fit like a glove in any Tier 1 organization that requires an experienced Rifler. However, his downtime may take its toll on him against top-level teams.

Xyp9x wants to return to the top competitive level in CS2

In an interview with Dust2.dk (HLTV’s media partner in Denmark), Xyp9x, said he is ready and wants to return to the top competitive level in CS2. In addition, the Danish rifler mentioned that he is eager to play, so he is open to playing in other organizations. Finally, Xyp9x said he is confident that he can still prove his skills on the servers, whether with Astralis or another team.

Before Astralis sent Xyp9x to the bench and later to the Astralis Talent lineup, the Danish squad faced problems in every tournament it participated in. Moreover, it’s no secret to anyone that when that powerful lineup that won it all for several years in the CS:GO scene started to split up, Xyp9x’s overall performance started to decline noticeably.

On the other hand, it is fair to note that its worst moment came when the “online era” began during the Covid-19 pandemic, as, between 2020 and 2021, Xyp9x had a really low performance that led it to lose 0.10 points in the HLTV Rating.

Future of Xyp9x

Xyp9x showed significant improvement in his arrival at Astralis Talent after being relegated by the main team. However, this was not enough for the organization to leave him in the team’s starting lineup. As a result, the Danish rifler is more inactive than active now.

Similarly, Xyp9x is still part of Astralis, as he noted in the interview that the organization still had a contractual tie with him. As a result, the Danish organization is the one that has the final say in this situation with one of its legends.

Ultimately, this means that it is likely that Xyp9x will either be part of the Astralis Talent lineup with the arrival of CS2 or that the organization will agree to sell him or release him to go his way in a new home. However, we all hope that this gaming legend who gave us so many Clutchs with Astralis will return to the Counter-Strike servers very soon.
