Mobile Legends: Bang Bang developer MOONTON Games announced Wednesday their collaboration with world-renowned tournament platforms, Battlefy, Challonge, and Toornament – to make third-party MLBB tournaments more accessible.

Tourney organizers can now also use the three apps to offer seamless integration with the MLBB Tournament Tool. “Organizers can now easily host MLBB esports activities on Battlefy, Challonge, and Toornament without needing to manually manage matches and communications. An enhanced integration with Challonge will be available in the near future,” a statement from MOONTON reads.

These innovations come at a more opportune time, as MLBB’s major competitors are also looking at strengthening their grassroots esports scene.

The recent global launch of Tencent’s Honor of Kings, China’s most popular MOBA, has already attracted the attention of global teams, especially in the talent-rich Asian market. Meanwhile, League of Legends: Wild Rift has announced its return to grassrooting and has tapped grassroots markets and third-party tournament organizers for the future of its esports scene.

MOONTON announced a newly-launched MLBB Third-Party Tournament website, which features comprise of an “MLBB Tournament Tool” for organizers to easily set up small-scale tournaments, as well as a “Major Community Tournament License Application” for larger esports events to gain additional support and resources.

MOONTON Games Head of Esports Ecosystem Ray Ng said in a statement, “Our third-party partners and esports event organizers are key pillars of our esports ecosystem as they represent the strength of our community. Our new support features reflect our two-pronged approach – to simplify the tournament hosting process and reduce barriers to entry, as well as empower them with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to thrive.”

The internally-developed MLBB Tournament Tool offers tournament organizers easier, one-click access to a tournament lobby. Organizers will then be able to invite players to the lobby simply by having them scan a unique QR code or input a unique tournament ID code. Previously, organizers would need to collect the user IDs of all participants and add them as friends before adding them manually to the game lobby.

Bigger esports event organizers, meanwhile, can apply for enhanced support via the “Major Community Tournament License Application” function. Upon processing, additional resources will be unlocked, including access to a server with all heroes and emblems unlocked, official certification to use the MLBB logo, and marketing support on official MLBB channels.

“Our end-game is to empower third-party organisers to the point that they are able to operate self-sufficiently and independently. This launch is just the beginning; we will continue to invest into and collaborate with our community to shape the future of competitive gaming,” Mr. Ng added.
