Gamers8 2023 features a great CS:GO tournament in which most of the world’s best teams will compete. The notable exceptions are Astralis, OG, and a few others.

The tournament offers $1 million in prize money and rewards even the lowest-ranked teams (9th – 16th) with a decent amount: $15.000. The 5th – 8th place teams will get $35.000 and the top four will receive a lot more. The winner gets $400.000, which is almost the equivalent of winning a Major.

The only disappointing aspect of Gamers8 2023 is the competitive format. Because there’s a lot more going on at this event and not just CS:GO, the organizers decided to use a very brief format. The 16 teams will compete in a single-elimination format that includes a total of 15 matches. Every one of them will be best-of-three.

Gamers8  is scheduled to take place between August 16-20.

Participants

Gamers8 will be attended by these 16 teams:

  • Apeks
  • Cloud9
  • ENCE
  • Team Falcons
  • FaZe Clan
  • FURIA Esports
  • G2 Esports
  • GamerLegion
  • Heroic
  • Team Liquid
  • Natus Vincere
  • Virtus.pro
  • Team Vitality
  • Fnatic
  • MIBR
  • 9INE

Of these 16 teams, many don’t have a single hope of succeeding. Among the weakest competitors, who will almost certainly be eliminated in the round of 16, are MIBR, Team Falcons, and GamerLegion.

A lot of the other teams are somewhere between the underdogs and the favorites. It will be interesting to see 9INE competing against the winners of IEM Cologne, G2 Esports.

Another great match will be the one between Natus Vincere and FURIA Esports. We’ve already seen this battle a few times in the last 12 months. Na’Vi are probably still hurt after what happened at IEM Rio Major, where FURIA eliminated them in the first round of the playoffs.

Cloud9 should have a good match against Fnatic after the roster upgrades they made in recent months. But the Swedish team might ruin their dreams. Fnatic’s roster is now an international one. From the old guard, only Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson is left. At 29, he’s still a formidable player who can do great things and assist with good advice as well.

The battle for the title will probably take place between G2, Heroic, Vitality, and ENCE. But FaZe and Na’Vi shouldn’t be underestimated either. Because they won’t face each other in the first round, all of these teams have a high chance of advancing to the quarterfinals.
