Maryam “Mary” Maher, one of the rising stars of VALORANT Game Changers team G2 Gozen, will not play in the upcoming EMEA Game Changers Series to focus on her studies.

Nowadays, we have many male and female gamers who, from a very early age in their lives, are picked up by big esports organizations. However, this can be detrimental to these players’ lives since many are minors and have not yet finished their high school or high school studies. Also, giving these young people jobs and paying them to play their favorite games may impact their academic development.

Mary leaves G2 Gozen’s starting lineup to focus on her studies

Through a statement on the official Twitter account, G2 Gozen announced that Mary is leaving the team’s starting lineup to focus entirely on her studies. As a result, Sarah “sarah” Ahmed will take her place on the team.

Sarah is an 18-year-old British player on Sabres Impact, a team from the United Kingdom. Let’s remember that G2 Gozen is the current world champion, and, of course, they are the favorites to conquer the trophy in the upcoming EMEA Game Changers Series II, which kicks off on July 3, 2023. In this tournament, G2 Gozen belongs to group A and their first match is against Anonymo Female.

About Mary

Mary is one of the rising stars in the female VALORANT competitive scene. In addition, last season, Mary got all the community’s attention when she signed for G2 Gozen at 16. At the same time, the Bahraini player showed great potential and, as a result, became one of the best players in the world.

Mary demonstrated a high level of play at the Game Changers Championship, and her teammates declared that this player would become the best of them all.

Thanks to her outstanding performance and the excellent Team Play demonstrated by G2 Gozen at the Game Changers Championship 2022; the team became the first champion in the history of VALORANT Game Changers. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that they achieved it after a spectacular reverse sweep against Shopify Rebellion in a BO5.

It is uncertain how long Mary will be away from the VALORANT competitive scene. However, what is certain is that the 17-year-old star will not play the EMEA Game Changers Series II, and it is unclear if she will be able to return for the Game Changers Championship 2023, played in November.
