This year’s Battle Pass didn’t gain as much success as in the years prior, even with Valve stepping in to gain success by giving away a month worth of Dota Plus, a free Battle Pass, and even an Arcana to any player who played at least 10 games of DOTA since the Battle Pass came out.

Tundra Esports becoming The International 2022 Champions last week marked an approaching end to the first part of The International Battle Pass and the highly-expected second part launches today.

Battle Pass, Themes And A Brief Information

First introduced as The Compendium in 2013, it acted as a way for the community to contribute to the prize pool of The International. It was renamed to The Battle Pass in 2016 and since then, it always had a dedicated theme and color for that year.

Traditionally, the Battle Pass was released twice a year with an event surrounding its release. Events like DireTide, which takes place during the spooky Halloween season, and Frostivus, which takes place during the joyous Christmas season, mostly come together with the release of Battle Pass and they are always long awaited by the Dota 2 Community.

However this year, Valve approached the long-awaited Battle Pass differently compared to other years. To start off, the developers made Battle Pass into a five-month-long event combining the traditional Battle Pass season with the Winter Pass season. This resulted in a backlash from the community, leaving many with mixed feelings. And the massive drop in the prize pool reflected that.

The first part of this year’s Battle Pass had a red theme and came with Phantom Assassin’s persona along with Faceless Void’s arcana and treasures such as Immortal treasure 1, The Battle Pass collection 2022, and Ageless Heirlooms 2022. With the first part coming to an end on November 2, the second part filled with nostalgia starts Thursday, November 3.

High Expectations For a Cold Breeze

It is expected that the second part of the Battle Pass will be blue-themed and it will also come with an immortal treasure, an arcana, and a persona. Although there are rumors about Immortal Treasure 3 being included, it’s just smoke and mirrors.

The Razor arcana and Crystal Maiden persona will be coming along with the returning seasonal game mode event Diretide, arguably the most beloved game mode in Dota 2.

Furthermore, Part 2 of the Battle Pass will feature Candyworks & Treasure Emporium, which is said to give players an option to explore their candy collection. These candies can be traded for rewards which include Immortals and even Arcanas. More details can be known about it when it is officially released soon.
