Madrid to host the next VALORANT Masters

On the eve of what will be the culmination of VALORANT Champions 2023, Riot Games shared their plans for the upcoming season, and, no doubt, one of the big and pleasant surprises was the announcement that the next VALORANT Masters will be held in Madrid in 2024.

This announcement marks the first time in history that Spain, and of course, Madrid, has been selected to host a VALORANT event of this magnitude. Some important Riot Games events have been held in this Spanish city, such as the Summer Split finals or the LoL Worlds semifinals. However, a top-level VALORANT event, such as the VALORANT Masters, is the first time it has been held in the country.

In addition, there are currently three Spanish teams in the VCT EMEA League, Team Heretics, KOI, and Giants, so this is a great incentive for these three teams to give their all in every match to get their ticket to the Masters to be played at home.

Riot Games announces the VALORANT Masters Madrid 2024

Through a post on its official Twitter account, Riot Games announced Madrid as the venue for the first VALORANT Masters next season.

For those who don’t know what a VALORANT Masters is, well, let us tell you that this is an international event with the participation of the best VALORANT teams in the world. So far, Riot Games holds two Masters every year, coinciding with the end of the Splits played in all VCT regions. For 2024, both Madrid (Spain) and Shanghai (China) are the venues Riot Games chose to host the VALORANT Masters.

The structure of the VALORANT Masters is somewhat complicated, as teams must play different matches at the local, regional, and global levels. However, only the best get their ticket to this prestigious event, which is the goal of every team that belongs to the VCT.

So far, we have enjoyed 5 VALORANT Masters in the game’s history, and Madrid will be one of the next venues to enter the history book of Riot Games’ shooter. Remember that the last VALORANT Masters champion was Fnatic, who swept Evil Geniuses in the VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 Grand Final.

VCT Masters Madrid

As we mentioned, VCT Masters Madrid will be the first Masters to be played in the 2024 VCT season. However, it is worth noting that the qualifiers will start early next year. There will be tournaments that will last two weeks to define the 8 teams that will play the final event in the Spanish capital. On the other hand, neither the date nor the format of the event is known yet, but, most probably, Riot will announce it in the next months.

Finally, this is not Madrid’s first time hosting a major esports event. In addition to the Riot Games events mentioned above (LoL, mainly), in Madrid, we have enjoyed events such as Gamergy (70,000 attendees) and Madrid Games Week (more than 130,000 attendees).
