M80 qualify for VCT 2023 Ascension Americas Grand Final

The emotions of the VCT 2023 Ascension Americas continue, and last Saturday, July 8, we saw how M80 pulled out all the stops and respected their status as favorites to win the two matches played at the Lower Bracket to seal their ticket to the Grand Final of the tournament.

The South Americans were one step away from qualifying for the tournament’s grand final, but in the Lower Bracket final, they were completely crushed by M80.

Let’s see what happened last Saturday, July 8, at the VCT 2023 Ascension Americas.

M80 beat 9z Team 2-0

The first match played last Saturday was the Lower Bracket semifinal between M80 and 9z Team. Undoubtedly, the North Americans were favorites to win, but anything can happen in this kind of tournament and even more in these defining instances. However, M80 pulled out all the stops for a comfortable 2-0 victory.

It all started in Pearl, 9z Team’s map pick, where the North American squad owned the match from start to finish. While it is true that 9z started winning 4-2 in the first half, then M80 won 11 consecutive rounds to take a comfortable 13-4 victory.

Then, on the second map, Haven, everything was completely different, as the 9z Team took a 7-5 partial victory in the first half, which made them dream of tying the series 1-1. However, M80 deployed a truly fearsome and decisive offense at changing sides to realize an excellent 13-10 victory.

M80 annihilate The Union and qualify to the Grand Final.

Minutes later, M80 faced The Union in a rematch of that first Group Stage match, where the Brazilians crushed the North Americans 2-0. However, things were completely different in this match, as M80 annihilated The Union’s aspirations of qualifying for the Grand Final.

It all started at Lotus on M80’s map pick, where they showed incredible play on their attacking side to take a comfortable 10-2 partial victory. Then, at the change of sides, The Union tried to wake up by winning the first three rounds, but M80 hit back immediately to take the victory by 13-5.

On the second map, Fracture, everything went worse for The Union and much better for M80. Again, the North American squad had a spectacular first half, in which they took the victory by 9-3. However, unlike the first map, in the second half of Fracture, M80 won the first four rounds to secure their 13-3 victory and seal their ticket to the tournament’s Grand Final.
