M80 players are unrestricted free agents

One of VALORANT’s top teams in the Challengers scene, M80, announced that most of its players are now unrestricted free agents. This move comes just days after the team came very close to clinching its ticket to the VCT Americas League for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

However, disappointing results at the end of the season make this move make all the sense in the world. For many, M80 was the team that would earn that spot for the VCT Americas League through the VCT Ascension Americas 2023. However, the team underperformed so badly in the most important tournament of the season that they lost a couple of times to The Guard and finished in second place.

M80 players are unrestricted free agents

According to Marco Mereu, the founder of the popular North American organization M80, four of the team’s players are unrestricted free agents. However, these players are still part of the organization, but according to Mereu, they are free to listen to offers and take advantage of any opportunities on the competitive scene.

While there is no specific mention of players who are in unrestricted free agency, they are:

  • Gianfranco “koalanoob” Potesti
  • Marc-Andre “NiSMO” Tayar
  • Mouhamed “johnqt” Ouarid
  • Alexander “Zander” Dituri

As we noted in the post on Twitter, according to the founder of M80, the organization gives this opportunity to its players and coaches. In addition, he also stresses the fact that M80 will not leave the VALORANT scene and that they will prepare to come back as strong as possible for the next Challengers season.

On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning again that players have no restrictions. As a result, any of the players mentioned above can sign with any team they want without any problem.

Future of the players

For now, the three players who posted on their Twitter account that they are unrestricted free agents mentioned wanting to join a team associated with the VCT. This means they aim for the top VALORANT competitive scene in the Americas.

In addition to The Guard, the team that won the VCT Ascension Americas 2023, we have three VCT Americas League teams that could make drastic changes to their lineup for next season, 100T, Sentinels, and Cloud9.

On the other hand, if the departure of these M80 players is confirmed, the organization will have to move quickly to find replacements. It is no secret that the preparation for the new season must begin soon. They will have to fight from the beginning to obtain the coveted place in the VCT Americas League next season in the Challengers scene.
