In its quest to qualify for the LCS Summer Split 2023 playoffs, Dignitas announced the addition of Philippe “Poome” Lavoie-Giguere for the last two weeks of the regular season. Poome becomes the team’s starting Support to help them achieve that coveted playoff berth.

There are still several games in this LCS Summer Split 2023. However, it is worth mentioning that the standings are very tight. As a result, each of the games played from now on can be fundamental for the aspirations of all the teams.

Dignitas announce the addition of Poome for the last two weeks of the LCS Summer Split 2023 regular season

The North American organization, Dignitas, announced Poome as the team’s new starting Support through a statement on its official Twitter account.

While it is true that Dignitas came into this 2023 season with a great lineup that, for many, would be very competitive, the team could not display its best level of play in the Spring Split. As a result, the team finished in last place in the table with a terrible 3-15 record.

However, the team decided to make a renewal of its starting lineup ahead of the start of the LCS Summer Split 2023. One of the most important signings was Lee “Rich” Jae-won, the 25-year-old Korean who has been instrumental in the team’s reaction. As a result, Dignitas is now one of the teams called to get a ticket to the tournament playoffs. In addition, at the time of writing, Dignitas sits in fifth place in the overall standings with a 6-6 record.

Somewhat unexpected change for Dignitas

While it is true that the team has shown an infinitely better side than in the Spring Split, Dignitas surprised its fans by making yet another change in the last few hours to its starting lineup. With only two weeks left in the regular season, teams are looking for ways to play perfectly to secure their place in the next phase.

Poome’s arrival in the starting lineup means that, from now on, David “Diamond” Bérubé moves to the team’s bench.

About Poome

While it’s true that Poome got his first chance in the LCS with 100 Thieves in the 2020 season, there’s no doubt that his finest hour was at CLG in the 2022 season. The 23-year-old Canadian Support was one of the pillars of that CLG team that finished inside the TOP 4 twice. However, after CLG’s disappointing exit in the 2023 Spring Split playoffs, Poome left the organization during the offseason during MSI 2023.

However, Poome is one of the best Support right now who can help Dignitas to secure its playoff berth and, above all, have a good run with the team. There is no doubt that Dignitas players are playing at an infinitely higher level than in the first months of the year. However, Diamond is one of the worst Supports in the LCS, so this move is completely the right one.

Likewise, Diamond is not the cause of Dignitas’ problems, neither more nor less. At the same time, there is a possibility that Poome may not be able to solve these problems. However, the team can make a big turnaround and experience a considerable increase in the level of play in the coming weeks.

Poome’s debut with Dignitas will be in Week 5 of the LCS Summer Split 2023 in their matches against NRG, TSM, and Immortals.
