Los Heretics advance to EMEA Masters playoffs

The emotions in the EMEA Masters 2023 continue. After an intense group stage, we already have some teams qualified for the next tournament stage, including Los Heretics, the Team Heretics academy team, which plays in the LEC.

Los Heretics are the reigning champions of the competition and want to maintain their throne. After a good 4-2 record in the EMEA Masters Group Stage, Team Heretics Academy enters the tournament’s playoffs.

Los Heretics qualify for the next phase of the EMEA Masters 2023

While Los Heretics suffered a lot in this Group Stage, losing two games to Istanbul Wildcats, they managed to stay on top of their game and qualified in second place in Group A.

At the start of the final day of Group A, we had a three-way tie between Los Heretics, Istanbul Wildcats, and Geekay Esports with a 2-1 record. However, these three teams had to play for their lives, as only two playoff spots were up for grabs.

Both Heretics and Wildcats managed to win their first matches against Zero Tenacity and Geekay, respectively. Thanks to this, both teams qualified directly to the tournament playoffs, so only the group leadership was at stake.

In the end, the Spanish team lost for the second time in the tournament against the Wildcats, as the Turkish team showed a spectacular level of play throughout the game. However, Jeong “BAO” Hyeon-woo was in charge of clouding all Heretics’ hopes in this last game with a masterful performance with Jinx. The South Korean had impressive stats of 19/4/7 and put the icing on the cake with a spectacular PentaKill.

Heretics await playoff opponent

The Team Heretics academy team fulfills the first objective in this EMEA Masters 2023. The current European champions have secured their presence in the tournament playoffs, but they still do not know their opponents, as Groups B and C will finish their matches in the next few hours.

Currently, the possible opponent for Los Heretics will be Team GO, the French runner-up. This team has shown impressive play during the tournament after finishing the group stage in first place in Group D with a 5-1 record. However, the other two possible opponents in the draw will be known in the coming hours with the conclusion of the rest of the groups. Recall that they may face the winners of Groups B and C, that is, between LDLC, FUT Esports, Macko Esports, and Movistar Riders.

Even though Los Heretics could not finish in first place in Group A, the level of play demonstrated in each match was very good. In addition, we cannot fail to mention that their main protagonist was Victor “Flakked” Lorola, who continues to demonstrate an extraordinary level and performance.
