In less than a week, three popular and successful Indian Esports organizations have disbanded their BGMI roster ahead of the 2024 season.

The 2023 season is officially over and while most of the PUBG Mobile rosters are prepping for the new season, some have been left abandoned by their organization. In the last seven days, popular esports organizations Soul, Blind Esports, and Gladiator Esports have stunned the Indian gaming community by announcing the departure of their successful BGMI lineups.

Gladiator Esports exits the BGMI scene

Less than seven months after entering the BGMI scene, Gladiator Esports, the winners of both the BGMI Masters Series Season 2 and the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023, has disbanded its roster and ceased all operations. After acquiring the previous Chemin Esports core, Gladiator Esports was founded in June 2023.

The team’s adventure began when it placed second in its very first BGMI competition held under the new moniker Upthrust Survivors Saga Season 2. Despite its amazing start, the squad had to compete in a few more competitions before winning its first game in July at the NODWIN BGMI Champions Cup. From then on, they were unstoppable, putting up outstanding performances at a steady clip and winning significant sums of money in several prominent competitions.

The Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) Season 2 2023 and the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 saw Gladiators Esports put on their greatest show, impressing everybody with their aggressive and consistent gameplay. The team’s first LAN tournament was the BGMS Season 2 2023 competition, and it did well enough to win. It also gave a great performance in the BGIS 2023 LAN Grand Finals, winning second back-to-back LAN competition. Now that the organization has ceased its operations, the former Gladiator roster enters the 2024 season as a free-agent team, looking for a new team to call home.

S8UL Esports cut ties with its BGMI roster

S8UL Esports, the most popular Indian esports organization, announced on Sunday that it has cut ties with its BGMI roster. The organization awarded Content Group of the Year at the 2022 and 2023 Game Awards was very successful in BGMI in 2022 and the first half of 2023, but it struggled in some of the major BGMI LAN events. The team faced heavy scrutiny after performing poorly in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series 2023 (BGMS) Season 2 and the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023 (BGIS), where they failed to make it to the Grand Finals of both competitions.

Team Soul’s best performance came in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) Season 1 2022 tournament, where they won the title and earned a spot in the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2022 competition. Team Soul also performed well in several third-party events in 2023, including the coveted Battle For Revolution Season 2, Skyesports Championship 5.0, and Skyesports Champions Series. However, the performance was not enough to fulfill the expectations of S8UL’s fan, who wants to see the team at the top like in their heyday. As a result, the organization has parted ways with the entire roster and reportedly signed the talented former Blind Esports roster.

Regional champions Blind Esports bids farewell to its BGMI squad

Last week, Blind Esports—who recently won the BMPS 2023—officially said goodbye to their BGMI roster. The squad announced the players’ departure in an Instagram post, wishing them well in their future pursuits and informing fans of the news. Over the last six months, the lineup has been top-rated after dominating several significant events.

Though the precise cause for the roster’s dissolution is unknown, there is speculation that the players may be joining S8UL Esports, which recently split up with its own BGMI lineup. In most of the competitions it participated in, the Blind Esports team demonstrated steady performance; however, the team’s greatest period of dominance came in June, when they won five tournaments in a month.

The squad impressed everyone with its aggressive and consistent gameplay in the BMPS 2023 event, putting on its greatest show in recent memory. Additionally, the team excelled in several third-party competitions, taking home many titles including the massively prized Skyesports Championship 5.0, Skyesports Champions Series, and Upthrust Esports Challengers Showdown.
