It is understood that G2 Esports is in talks with a number of other League of Legends teams, as they look to offload their top laner “Wunder”, support “Mikyx” and head coach “Grabbz”. It is understood that any potential buyers will have to pay top dollar to acquire Wunder and Mikyx, because they are two of the biggest names in the LEC.

While the trio are yet to have been officially released by G2, it is expected that the German organization will continue to make major changes, with the team having failed to qualify for the 2021 Worlds. Wunder has a buyout of over $2.3 million, compared to Mikyx’s buyout of $1.7 million. Meanwhile, Grabbz would be available for an estimated $180,000. The trio remain contracted to the org until the end of the 2022 season, with G2 having so far not commented on the rumors.

Who could be interested in acquiring the trio?

The likes of Vitality and Team BDS have already declared a big interest in the trio, with it remaining to be seen as to where their futures really lie. Team BDS are set to take the place of Schalke 04 Esports in the LEC next year.

G2 has been quick to make changes during the offseason already, unlike many of their rivals. Mid laner “Caps” agreed to extend his contract by one more year, meaning that he will remain with the org until November 2023. Meanwhile, jungler “Jankos” being expected to sign a similar deal, although talks are still ongoing.

However, AD carry Rekkles is believed to be attracting interest from elsewhere, with G2 having reportedly drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements should he leave.

Why Rekkles could depart G2 also

Rekkles only recently joined the team in November 2020, replacing former star man “Perkz” in the process. Having began the season as the LEC title favourites, G2 failed to live up to their billing. They also made the playoffs, however missed out on a spot at the 2021 League of Legends Worlds after failing to finish in a high enough position.

As a result, those in charge have looked to revamp the team during the offseason, which has led to them potentially parting ways with three of the key members. Wunder, Mikyx and Grabbz helped G2 in winning four LEC titles, as well as reaching the finals of the 2019 League of Legends World Championship and winning the MSI title in the same year.
