One of the experienced Overwatch players still active in the scene, Andreas “Logix” Berghmans, announced his imminent retirement from esports.

It is always sad to see a veteran player retire from a successful career in the esports scene. Also, Overwatch’s competitive scene faltering in recent months could worry many of the community who continue to claim that Overwatch is “dying.”

Logix announces its retirement from esports

Through a statement on his Twitter account, Andreas “Logix” Berghmans announced his imminent retirement from the competitive Overwatch scene and esports in general.

In the official statement, we can see how Logix states that, now that he is 26 years old, he wants to put aside the professional esports scene and dedicate himself to doing new things. In addition, he also states that he tried to distribute his time between Overwatch and his private life, but his attachment to Blizzard’s FPS made it very complicated.

About Logix

As we mentioned, Logix is one of the most veteran players in the history of competitive Overwatch. Since the game’s official launch in 2016, Logix was known as one of the best hitscan DPS worldwide. In his early days, he was part of three important organizations in the esports scene, mousesports (MOUZ), Movistar Riders, and Misfits.

However, when the Overwatch League launched in 2017, Logix signed with the Florida Mayhem and was also part of Team Belgium’s starting lineup at the inaugural Overwatch World Cup.

Logix announced his retirement from esports on the same day that Team Belgium ended its Overwatch World Cup 2023 run. With Logix in their ranks, the Belgian national team failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing in fifth place in Group A with a 3-4 record.

The 26-year-old Belgian veteran player expressed his frustration with the turn Overwatch 2 took with all PvE content last May 16, 2023. Furthermore, his last team in the competitive scene was Team Peps, which he left in November 2022.

No surprises for this announcement

As a result, Logix’s retirement decision seems to come as no surprise to anyone in the community, as the Belgian had more than seven months without competing at the highest level. However, many fans, former teammates, and personalities wished him well in his future endeavors. In addition, they showed him a lot of respect and listed him as one of the best people in the competitive Overwatch scene.

On the other hand, Boston Uprising Head Coach Sim “Mobydik” Seung-bo also showed his full support for Logix, wished him the best of luck in his future, and said he would miss him a lot.

For now, the future of Logix is completely uncertain, but we are sure that it will be kept away from esports, at least for now.
