The mid-laner of 100 Thieves, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, is very clear that 2023 has to be a year of personal vindication. There is no doubt that the Danish player was one of the central focuses of Team Liquid in the 2022 season, where the organization formed the so-called “superteam,” which was full of star players and did not work out.

Without winning the LCS championship and failing to qualify for Worlds 2022, Team Liquid decided to release the former TSM player for the current season. This is undoubtedly on Bjergsen’s mind.

Bjergsen reveals reasons for signing with 100 Thieves

In an interview Bjergsen gave a few days ago, the Danish player revealed his motivations for signing with 100 Thieves for 2023. Undoubtedly, the decision was centered due to the lousy year in 2022 he had with Team Liquid and undoubtedly underperformed. Bjergsen said:

“The reality is that I was on a team that was supposed to be great and didn’t do well. So, I need to prove that I was not the problem and show why I am great.”

Another critical point in Bjergsen’s signing with 100 Thieves was his return with Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng. The latter returned from retirement two years later.

The decision came at the last minute from Team Liquid

The Danish player was Team Liquid’s main talking point in the transfer market. This is because rumors placed an exceptionally “strong” game vision by Bjergsen and Jo “CoreJJ” Young-in. As a result, the North American organization started the season with a dilemma: keep the Dane or the Korean.

In the end, and as we all know, Team Liquid opted for South Korean Support in addition to building a project based on South Korean or Korean-speaking players. Among Liquid’s signings are Hong “Pyosik” Chang-Hyeon reigning world champion with DRX, and Park “Summit” Woo-tae, former Cloud9 player.

Great start for 100 Thieves in the LCS

Despite opening with a loss, 100 Thieves is in second place in the table with a record of three wins and only one loss. 100T is tied with Evil Geniuses and Cloud9 for second place in the table. On the other hand, Team Liquid is in fifth place with a 2-2 record. Unlike other seasons, LCS teams are now fighting for the last playoff spot in the sixth position.

Bjergsen is among the most experienced players in today’s League of Legends competitive scene. However, for any team, it is a luxury to have this kind of player commanding their lineups. So, we hope that 100 Thieves continues on the path of victory and manage to qualify smoothly for the playoffs of the LCS.
