Now that multiple South Korean players have been signed by North American teams, the LCS feels completely different.

The skill difference between these players and most of the regional ones is quite high, which is the main reason why FlyQuest, a team that finished among the last in 2022, is now undefeated after three weeks of matches.

The third week of LCS Spring proved to be a challenging one. Right now, there are five teams whose records are either identical or almost identical. Three of them have four wins and two losses, while the other two have three wins and three losses. 100 Thieves, the new home of Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, is one of the better ones.

Week 3 results in LCS Spring 2023

The best teams in the region had reasonably good results in the third of LCS Spring, winning one of the two matches and losing the other. In the case of 100 Thieves, it’s understandable why the loss occurred. They had to play their second match against FlyQuest. The battle lasted for 30 minutes but it seemed lost from the start.

FlyQuest’s carry, Lee “Price” Chae-hwan, finished the match with 11 kills, 9 assists, and just one death. Meanwhile, Doublelift didn’t get a single kill.

Cloud9, TSM, Evil Geniuses, and Team Liquid all won and lost a match. Among them, EG looked really good, but they weren’t able to win against the league’s Bogeyman, FlyQuest.

At the bottom of the rankings table, Dignitas continued their losing streak and currently have a record of 0 W – 6 L. This is not a big surprise. This team finished either last or among the last in 2022 as well. But this time, it looks like they won’t win any matches. The other teams are simply too strong compared to them.

FlyQuest are almost entirely a South Korean team at this point, so we shouldn’t be surprised that they are dominating the LCS. Only one player is not from this country and he too is Chinese.

It seems that the management of FlyQuest decided to win everything that can be won in North America and go not only to Mid-Season Invitational but also to Worlds without any problems. We’ve seen a similar strategy being used in Dota 2. Except there, it was the organization that joined a weaker region and pretty much crushed all opposition.

Week 4 should be very exciting to watch. The match between Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves will be the highlight.
