The Playoffs Stage of LCK Summer 2020 is finally coming to an end. The Grand Final takes place today, September 5th, and it’s a highly anticipated match between the two teams that have truly been the best during LCK Summer 2020. These teams are DAMWON Gaming and DragonX.

DAMWON Gaming’s Path to the Grand Final

DAMWON Gaming had a very straightforward path to the Grand Final of LCK Summer 2020 Playoffs. This team won the Group Stage with 16 wins and 2 losses and automatically advanced to the Grand Final. In terms of their weaknesses, DG proved to be vulnerable against two teams: Gen.G Esports and DragonX. Both of them managed to defeat DAMWON once in the Group Stage. This may turn out to be critical in this next match.

DragonX’s Path to the Grand Final

DragonX had a slightly more complicated path than its opponent. The team finished the Group Stage of LCK Summer 2020 in 2nd place with 15 wins and 3 losses. This result was only slightly worse than DAMWON’s. But the overall game score tells a different story. DAMWON had a score of +29 while DragonX had one of +19. In other words DAMWON had a lot more matches that ended with a score of 2 – 0 than  DragonX.

As a result of finishing 2nd, DragonX advanced to the Semifinal, where it had to fight for the chance to be in the Grand Final against Gen.G Esports. The match was really difficult. DragonX won the first game but lost the next two. This created a lot of tension in the confrontation but DX won in the end, thanks in part to its opponent’s drafts. Gen.G’s Akali pick in game 4 was a complete failure, while their Kalista attempt in game 5 was nice but insufficient.

Grand Final

Going into this Grand Final, I expect DAMWON Gaming to win, not least because it has a much stronger roster. Much will depend on form and preparation, but in principle we should have a 3 – 1 or 3 – 2 score at the end, in favor of DAMWON.
