In League of Legends, there is a handful of hyper-scaling champions that are incredibly strong in late game, however, it can be quite difficult to get to that phase due to their weak early game. And of course, this can cause major problems for their teams.

One such champion is Kayle, who can reach unrivaled burst and sustained damage in late game, while her early capabilities are just infamously bad. In order to help Kayle become a more viable top lane pick, Riot Games has decided to implement a couple of changes, as always starting with testing on public beta (PBE).

Is it worth balancing the Hyper Scaling Champion?

Kayle changes on PBE

Riot August, the League of Legends Lead champion designer, shared these changes on Twitter yesterday, focusing on Kayle’s Ultimate and the functioning of the ability when used on herself. One of these adjustments allows Kayle to do something she couldn’t do since the developers revamped her abilities back in 2019 — she can now auto-attack enemies while using ultimate.

Moreover, kayle’s cast time was reduced, the radius of her ultimate was increased, and the range restrictions when using her ultimate on herself were also removed.

Scaling should become weaker

In return, Riot wants to scale back the damage that Kayle’s ultimate does and the time it takes for the swords to fall. Invulnerability duration is now a static 2.5 seconds, no matter who is it used on.

Radiant Blast, Kayle’s “E” ability, has also been modified in order to make it less oppressive, as well as to get a lower AP ratio. On the other hand, the damage this ability does to minions above level 11 has been increased, which makes minions less relevant for her in the later stages of the game.

Will we see the changes at MSI?

For now, it’s not clear when the Kayle adjustments can be expected to be released on the League’s live server, and whether it will happen before the MSI, set to kick off on May 2. What we do know, however, is that Milio and Yuumi will not be playable in this event.

By the way, there is also a mid-scope update for Neeko that you can test on the PBE as well. The update buffs the playful chameleon, possibly making her a more interesting pick for the jungle.
