Blizzard has entered into a fat-dripping cooperation with KFC to promote Diablo 4. Players will receive a code for the beta when they order a burger that is sure to give them heartburn.

KFC has teamed up with Blizzard Entertainment for a bizarre collaboration to give players a chance to get in on the upcoming Diablo 4 beta early. All they have to do in return is devour an entire Double Down burger. Through Saturday, March 18, anyone who purchases a KFC Double Down burger through the chain’s website or app will receive a code to participate in Diablo 4’s Early Access Beta weekend.

The Early Access Beta runs from March 17-19 and was originally only available to those who pre-ordered the game. If you pre-ordered it, then you don’t have to get your fill of KFC’s burger disaster either.

What’s so bad about the burger?

The KFC Double Down Burger doesn’t necessarily look bad at first glance, but then you notice that it has no bread on top and bottom and instead has two chicken crispy patties. There is a bit of sauce and cheese in the middle to go with it, but that’s about it. So it’s going to be a very greasy affair, which can certainly trigger massive heartburn in one or the other. Those who ate the burger were also not particularly enthusiastic about the breadless chicken sandwich.

At the moment, it’s not entirely clear if this offer is only available in the U.S., but if it is, you probably didn’t miss out. All the folks who don’t have the Double Down Burger on hand will get a chance a week later to participate in Diablo 4’s open beta, which will run from March 24-27.

Content in the Diablo 4 beta

In Diablo 4’s betas, you’ll be able to try out five character classes from the game and explore the first zone, Fractured Peaks. The entire first act and prologue are playable, but you can only advance to level 25 for now.

Blizzard also explains that it is not the version that will be released on June 6, which means that bugs etc. may still occur. Players can create 10 characters per one Battle.net  account, but keep in mind that all of these characters will be deleted after the end of the beta.

The open betas can also be played in couch co-op multiplayer, with only one player needing Early Access access for the first weekend so friends and other players can join. Playing with others will earn you a small XP bonus, so team up or lose.

Blizzard has been doing quite a bit of promotion before the release of Diablo 4, which has led to some interesting but strange events, including a fashion show in a cathedral inspired by Diablo. Now we’ve got the Disaster Double Down Burger, and there may well be a marketing gag or two before the game is released.
