The second European RMR for the upcoming Paris Major is over. Two of the favorites, Astralis and Team Spirit, failed miserably. Two more, Cloud9 and BIG, did not finish in the top eight and will need to go through the EU Decider Bracket. But the odds of success are minimal.

A total of six teams will compete in that tournament and only one of them will go to the Major. Unfortunately for Cloud9, they will probably need to face FaZe Clan at some point and the match will fill like a Major Grand Final.

Complete results

The teams that did well in European RMR B are 9INE, Heroic, and Team Vitality. All three of them secured a Legend Status spot at the Paris Major. This means that they will skip the first stage of the tournament and get the opportunity to play in the Champions Stage with just a top eight result in The Legends Stage.

At this point, we know almost nothing about 9INE. The Polish team surprised everyone with their performance but we have yet to see them competing in front of a huge crowd. Without a doubt, this will be the biggest CS:GO tournament in their history.

Another team that performed well in the qualifier was Monte. This is the team of Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev and the fact that they qualified for the Major proves that the former Natus Vincere player is exceptionally talented. On paper, Monte had no chance of qualifying. And not only they did. They finished fourth!

G2 Esports qualified with a record of 3 W – 1 L but failed to secure a Legend Status spot. In the tiebreakers, they lost against Team Vitality and will need to start the Paris Major in The Challengers Stage, like most of the other participants.

In an interview, Nikola “NiKo” Kovac declared himself to be unhappy with the result and with the RMR format but this was still a step forward for his team all things considered. Let’s not forget that G2 failed to qualify for the Rio Major and could have easily failed here too.

It’s enough to look at what happened to some of the other top teams to understand that there are no guarantees.

The last three teams that finished in the top eight were FORZE Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and ENCE. All three of them had to overcome huge challenges to finish with a record of 3 W – 2 L.
