While it is true that the LCS Summer Split 2023 playoffs are in full swing, we already know the three North American representatives to Worlds 2023, Cloud9, NRG, and Team Liquid. In addition, some important regular season awards were also revealed in the last hours, including the MVP.

In this opportunity, Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun, the star Mid Laner of Evil Geniuses, got the MVP award at 18 years old and in his second season in the LCS. There is no doubt that the youth talent that exists in the NA League of Legends scene is palpable, and this MVP award more than proves it.

On the other hand, it is also worth noting that Jojopyun became the first LCS player to win the MVP award at 18 after Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg did so at the same age in the 2014 season.

LCS names Jojopyun MVP of the Summer Split 2023

Through a post on its Twitter account, the LCS announced that EG’s young mid-laner Jojopyun is the MVP of the LCS Summer Split 2023.

All LCS fans will agree that this EG season has been disappointing. Not only has the team failed to be among the best in any of the splits, but they have also had different off-stage controversies. However, it is no secret that Jojopyun’s talent has been the only thing that has shined in the team during the whole season.

During the season, the organization overhauled its lineup completely, keeping only Jojopyun in the squad. Recall that EG contested Worlds 2022 after an excellent run in the previous season. However, 2023 things started extremely bad for the team, so changes were immediate.

In the Summer Split 2023, Jojopyun was in the TOP 2 among the best mid-laners in the entire LCS regarding main stats, i.e., CS per minute, DPM, and kill participation. Thanks to this, the 18-year-old was part of one of the All-Pro teams of this Split, the second time he achieved it in his career.

EG’s future

While it’s true that EG’s 2023 season is officially over, this team has a positive air about them that makes us think they may be a force to be reckoned with for the upcoming LCS season. Fans of the team should not rush or be disappointed with this team right now. Jojopyun can build an excellent synergy in Summoner’s Rift to take on strong LCS opponents in the upcoming season if everything works as it should. Likewise, should the organization decide to reshuffle the roster, there is no doubt that Jojopyun will be the cornerstone of this new team.

As we mentioned, Jojopyun has only played two seasons in the LCS, and, in that time, he has managed to win the hearts of everyone in the competitive scene. After being a popular and beloved rookie, he is now the league’s MVP.

In the LoL scene, great teams build success around a talented mid-laner, so Evil Geniuses has great potential with Jojopyun heading into the upcoming season.

The young promise, star, and now LCS MVP is under contract with EG until the end of the 2024 season. On the other hand, the rest of the EG players can decide their futures at the end of the current season so that anything can happen.
