The original Call of Duty: Warzone has been rebranded as Warzone Caldera, reappearing after being offline for more than two weeks. In addition, Infinity Ward developers are allowing access only to the Caldera map and the standard Battle Royale mode.

Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera is no longer available as a standalone download. Only if users have previously played Warzone 2 or own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, they can download and play Warzone Caldera.

Warzone Caldera loses popularity

The game lacks many essential elements. With the new features introduced in Warzone 2, this title has lost popularity and fallen into oblivion. At the moment, fans point out that playing Warzone Caldera is not worth it.

The duo or trio mode is not available in Warzone Caldera

Warzone Caldera only has a Battle Royale mode on the Caldera map. You can play alone in four-player squads, meaning that duos and trios are no longer available.

That said, you can still play in duos or trios in squad-mode matches. However, this is an unequal lobby, putting yourself in a disadvantage in several battles. Moreover, there is no doubt that due to the low popularity of the game, gathering four players might be a bit difficult.

Resurgence maps disbanded

The removal of two of the well-loved Resurgence maps — Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep — is perhaps the worst drawback of Cauldron.

Games in Resurgence mode typically last around 15 minutes. Therefore, it is the perfect option for players with little free time to complete several games in a single session. At the same time, it supports respawning, which allows for a more relaxed gaming experience.

In this game mode, begins can learn various mechanics present in the game.

No Plunder mode

Another missing element in Caldera is the loot mode. This mode emphasizes accumulating as much money as possible. It was played as a kind of team deathmatch and it was a perfect opportunity to have fun with friends.

The possibility of respawning was ideal for beginners to understand the game mechanics. Unfortunately, as with Resurgence, this mode is no longer available.

No in-game store

Warzone Caldera also lacks an in-game store, although COD points can be transferred between Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 titles.

You can only access player advancements, cross-player XP progression, battle pass content, weapons, etc.

Positive aspects of Warzone Caldera

The map places players on a Pacific tropical island in World War II, featuring a colorful environment and a variety of scenarios, different types of typography, and some dark places to hide.

Warzone Caldera has fewer structures than its successor, so players can expect more outdoor shooting. It also offers a wide range of period weapons, such as MP40s and PPShs.

Furthermore, there are 1940s landscapes, including trenches, seaside bunkers, ancient ruins, and reconnaissance towers.

Is Warzone Caldera worth it?

The decision to play this title depends on the player’s preferences. If the WW2 motif appeals to you, it is worth playing.

On the other hand, the missing components make players no longer prefer this game and rather move on to Warzone 2. Consequently, due to the reduction of players, the waiting time in the lobby has increased exponentially.

It is reasonable to think that players who have migrated to Warzone 2 may not want to return to the previous version of the game.
