The controversy related to match-fixing continues to be discussed; thanks to a video published by Morf, this problem first came to light. In the video, many players and even clubs have been accused of participating in match-fixing.

However, the only player who has admitted to participating in match-fixing is Anatoly “Lefitan” Krupnov; the rest of the accused deny participating in such cheating.

However, many professional players have spoken out on the issue and commented that all those involved in match-fixing should be punished. Otherwise, this kind of action could be repeated and affect Dota 2 esports negatively.

After that video was made public, where several members of Team HYDRA were pointed out, the organization began an internal investigation. This way, they can have proof when talking about the issue.

HYDRA speaks on Lefitan’s match-fixing

The accusations of match-fixing are very serious, so Team HYDRA first did its investigation not to harm anyone’s career if the accusations were false. However, finally, the organization has disassociated itself from Lefitan, who has publicly admitted to cheating in some matches.

In addition, the organization has issued an official statement addressing some of the facts of Morf’s accusation. On the other hand, the organization assures that when the video was made public, the players returned to each other from BootCamp.

In Team HYDRA’s official statement, reference is made to the Neon League competition. According to the information revealed by Morf, this competition was created to rig all the matches. According to Team HYDRA, the Dota 2 community thought they were cheating because the official match was canceled due to excessively high winning odds.

On the other hand, in the statement, Team HYDRA claims that in their investigation, it was discovered that the only one involved in match-fixing was Lefitan. The organization claims that Lefitan used an ” Overplus ” application in pubs. However, he did not disable it in official matches. As a consequence of that fact, the player was sanctioned and asked to apologize publicly.

In the statement, the organization also defends itself by arguing that the videos of the matches have been public since January 22, refuting Morf’s claims that the videos cannot be accessed.

The European Pro League also speaks out on the match-fixing controversy

Recently the EPL has posted on their Twitter account that they cannot stay on the sidelines of this situation. They have already taken action against the accused teams; however, they hope Valve will also conduct their investigation and punish all cheaters.
