Back to EMEA! Reports in the last hours mention that Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun, one of the best Supports of the LCS in 2023, would have agreed with Excel Esports to play in the LEC in 2024.

There is no doubt that this is a prize for IgNar after a brilliant season with NRG in the LCS, where he undoubtedly had his best year. Let’s remember that IgNar and NRG won the LCS em 2023 and also managed to qualify for the quarterfinals of Worlds 2023.

On the other hand, it should also be remembered that Excel Esports and many more organizations from all over the world are trying to build their squads solidly to succeed in the upcoming season. However, Excel must step up to the plate, as 2023 was somewhat complicated for them.

Reports claim that IgNar will play for Excel in the 2024 LEC

According to a report by Alejandro “anonimotum” Gomis for Sheep Esports, IgNar has an agreement to sign for Excel Esports and play in the 2024 LEC.

As we can see, this would be IgNar’s triumphant return to the LEC after winning the LCS with NRG.

If you are a League of Legends fan, you probably know perfectly well what IgNar has done throughout his professional career. However, there is no doubt that what is most remembered of this 26-year-old Korean was his time with Misfits Gaming, where he reached the quarterfinals of Worlds 2017 against the Korean super team, SKT T1.

IgNar competed in the LCS since the 2020 season, so he returned to Europe after 4 years, and his last team in the LEC was Schalke 04 Esports.

Throughout his LCS career, IgNar has had many ups and downs that have led him to jump from one team to another. His journey in NA began in FlyQuest, where he was an extremely important player for the team in the different LCS finals they played and, above all, participated in a World Championship.

However, his performance began to drop considerably in the following years, and he jumped from one team to another, including Evil Geniuses, NRG, Dignitas, and Immortals.

Summer Split 2023 saw IgNar reborn

IgNar did not have a good Spring Split in 2023, so all indications were that his up-and-down performance would continue throughout the season.

However, in the Summer Split 2023, things changed completely, as the 26-year-old Korean could step forward to lead NRG to lift the LCS champions trophy and qualify for Worlds 2023. On the other hand, at the World Championship, NRG was the only LCS and LEC team to advance past the Swiss Stage and even beat European powerhouse G2 Esports.

Now, with IgNar’s arrival at Excel Esports, the team is undoubtedly much stronger than it was in 2023, and it is expected that they can put up some nice battles in the next LEC season.
