The results of South America’s Division I were quite easy to predict. The only question in everyone’s mind was this: who will be the winner? We knew that Evil Geniuses and beastcoast would be the two qualified teams for the Bali Major, but we weren’t sure which of them was stronger.

After seven rounds of matches and a tiebreaker, we now know that Evil Geniuses have finally developed their playstyle enough to be the best team in the region. Internationally, EG got better results than beastcoast at both Majors. But in South America’s Divison I, beastcoast won the first two Tours.

Tour 3 results in SA Division I

Thanks to this victory, Evil Geniuses are already qualified for The International 12. They have 1470 points and are ranked 3rd in the DPC. As for beastcoast, they too are close to receiving a direct invite to TI12. But in order to avoid any risks, they would need to finish the Bali Major in the top eight.

Right now, beastcoast have 1000 points and are ranked 9th. This means that four teams from outside the top 12 need to surpass them. And that’s not likely to happen.

At the Bali Major, competitors like Bleed Esports, nouns, Team Aster, Invictus Gaming, and others would have to win the trophy or at least finish in the top three to earn the points they need. And that’s not likely to happen. Given the strength of the Western European teams, the top three positions are a pipe dream for anyone else.

And even if one of the underdogs does get an exceptional result, not all of them will finish the Major near the top. That alone should guarantee beastcoast’s spot. In such a scenario, a third South American team would go to The International 2023, which is great news for the region.

Given the results of Tour 3, that team is likely going to be Thunder Awaken. EG and beastcoast finished the Tour with a record of 6 W – 1 L. EG then won the tiebreaker for 1st place (2-0). Thunder Awaken’s record was also great: 5 W – 2 L. They practically only lost against the top two teams.

Right below them were Hokori with 4 W – 3 L, and then Mad Kings, with 3 W – 4 L. The remaining three teams are not worth mentioning because they lost almost every match. Surprisingly, one of them was Infamous, who used to be a top team in South America.
