VCT EMEA League 2023: FUT Esports and Team Vitality win on debut

The second day of the VCT EMEA League 2023 concluded with wins for FUT Esports and Team Vitality. Therefore, they are tied together with Fnatic and KOI at the top of the table.

In this second of the tournament, we had two really exciting matches where FUT Esports demonstrated an exceptional level of play. While Team Vitality suffered a bit, it finally won against Team Liquid.

FUT Esports crushes Team Heretics in the debut of the VCT EMEA League

Team Heretics could not overcome FUT Esports in the tournament’s first match, who were always far superior and managed to get a comfortable 2-0 victory. Undoubtedly, the FUT guys in both maps were far superior to the Spaniards, which we could notice with some communication problems and wrong decisions. Ultimately, the Turks managed to capitalize on each Spanish mistake and won.

Pearl (Team Heretics), Lotus (FUT Esports), and Ascent (decider) were the maps selected to play this series. However, with the 2-0 victory of FUT, playing the third map was unnecessary.

Pearl

The first surprise for the Spaniards was that FUT Esports did not forgive any of their minimal mistakes and took advantage of their great defense to take a partial 11-2 victory in the first half. Konur “qw1” Şahin (284 ADR, 463 ACS, and 2.17 Rating) stopped each Spaniards’ offensives.

In the second half, Team Heretics were somewhat disconcerted by the beating they had received and conceded easily with a final score of 4-13. In the first two days of the VCT EMEA League, qw1 has been the player who has shined the most on the servers.

Lotus

In the FUT Esports map pick, Team Heretics showed a better side of that. There is no doubt. However, their defensive side was terrible, and a powerful Turkish attack crushed them.

After FUT won the first two rounds of the map, Team Heretics woke up and managed to take a 9-2 lead. This was a great awakening for Team Heretics, who took advantage of Denmark’s Auni “AvovA” Chahade (171 ADR, 280 ACS, and 1.45 Rating) to keep the dream of even the series alive.

However, it was clear to the Turkish team that this would not happen, as they demonstrated such a beastly attack that the Spaniards could only win one round out of the ten contested. As a result, FUT took a resounding 13-9 victory to secure their first win of the VCT EMEA League 2023.

Team Vitality gives Team Liquid a big blow and takes the victory

There is no doubt that this has been, so far, the best series we have witnessed in this VCT EMEA League 2023. However, Team Vitality were the one who came out on top and managed to take the victory with a score of 2-1.

Haven (Team Vitality), Fracture (Team Liquid), and Lotus (decider) were the maps selected to play this series.

Haven

Team Vitality showed why Haven was their map pick in this tournament’s first match. As a result, they crushed Team Liquid with a solid 13-6 score, thanks to an excellent performance by Finnish Santeri “BONECOLD” Sassi (140 ADR, 203 ACS, and 1.43 Rating) and Lithuanian Tomas “Destrian” Linikas (121 ADR, 187 ACS, and 1.36 Rating).

Vitality started like a real beast winning the first eight rounds on the attacking side, giving them a comfortable and quiet lead-up. Team Liquid made up a bit of the score in the first half and ended up down 3-9.

Team Liquid tried to get into the match after winning the first two rounds of the second half. But, Vitality responded immediately and struck back to win 13-6.

Fracture

The Team Liquid we saw in the first map is not even a shadow of what they showed in Fracture. As a result, Saif “Sayf” Jibraeel and Ayaz “nAts” Akhmetshin wreaked havoc in each of the rounds they played on the map and took a crushing 13-2 victory.

The guys from Team Vitality could do nothing to penetrate Team Liquid’s fierce defense and were blurred from the map.

Lotus

The decisive map, Lotus, was just as we expected, an intense duel full of emotions.

Team Vitality started winning the first half on the attacking side with a score of 5-1. However, the guys from Team Liquid reacted to this and managed to win the next six rounds to take a 7-5 partial victory.

In the second half, Team Vitality hit back on their defensive side. As a result, they only allowed Team Liquid to win three rounds to take the 13-10 victory and the first of the tournament.

In this match, Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener carried Team Vitality, as he finished with very good stats of 183 ADR, 262 ACS, and a 1.29 Rating.
