Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski is set to join Team Heretics for the 2023 LEC season.

Team Heretics, the newest LEC organization, has a verbal agreement with the Polish jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski. According to reports from Brieuc “LEC Wooloo” Seeger, Heretics agreed to pay a €100,000 buyout for the star jungler to G2 esports. Jankos, who has been struggling for a while due to his expensive buyout and contract, appears to have finally found a solution and is now ready to make a comeback.

Along with players like Rasmus “caPs” Borregaard and Luka “Perkz” Perković, Jankos has been an integral part of the organization ever since his MSI victory in 2019 which revived the faith of European league fans in the LEC. He has also put on numerous more impressive domestic and international performances during his five-year tenure with the team. However, G2 is reportedly recruiting rookie LFL jungler Martin “Yike” Sundelin as the team’s new starting jungler to replace Jankos in the upcoming 2023 LEC Spring Split.

Heretics set free Jankos from G2’s contract to round its roster

After being benched by G2, Jankos was anticipated to be a hot pick for the LEC teams since he was the only European jungler to win the Mid-Season Invitational. At the beginning of the offseason, there were speculations that G2 had slapped a €1 million price tag on Jankos, making him nearly impossible to obtain. This made it more likely that the jungler would be forced to compete in the LCS because only well-funded North American teams possessed that much money to invest in a player.

Despite their interest in Jankos, the LEC teams opted to team up with other junglers due to his hefty buyout cost. Moreover, the veteran also addressed the issue, explaining how it quickly became the primary reason for his contract troubles. However, it appears that Heretics stepped in to free Jankos from G2’s contract prison when everyone else in the LEC turned their backs on the Polish star.

The organization is also planning to acquire one of Japan’s most accomplished players, Shunsuke “Evi” Murase. The Japanese top laner has dominated many top region teams while playing for DetonatioN FocusMe at MSI and Worlds on numerous occasions. Evi is now ready to join Heretics as the first Japanese import player in LEC history after making multiple international appearances and winning ten LJL titles.

Team Heretic LEC roster reportedly includes:

  • Shunsuke “Evi” Murase (DetonatioN FocusMe)
  • Lee “Ruby” Sol-min (Unicorns of Love)
  • Jakob “Jackspektra” Gullvag Kapple (Cream Real Betis )
  • Mertai “Mersa” Sari (Misfits Gaming)
  • Peter Dun (head coach, Evil Geniuses)
