One of the most popular esports events every year, Gamers8 has announced another of the tournaments that will be played within the eight weeks this edition will be held. Again, Rocket League returns after a very successful 2022 edition and will have a prize pool of $2,000,000 to be distributed.

There is no doubt that Gamers8 is fully committed to the competitive scene of the main esports worldwide. In addition, this event is also part of an unparalleled experience that will be attended by many athletes from around the world, fans, and international music and entertainment personalities.

Gamers8 Esports Announces $2M Rocket League Tournament

Last Saturday, March 25, the official Twitter account of Gamers8 2023 announced the return of Rocket League as one of the tournaments to be played at the event. In addition to that, they announced that the prize pool would be $2,000,000.

As mentioned in the release, the Rocket League tournament will be held in person in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from August 21 to 27, 2023.

On the other hand, it was announced how will be the distribution of prizes in this tournament:

  • 1st place: $500,000
  • 2nd place: $300,000
  • 3rd-4th place: $200,000
  • 5th-8th place: $95,000
  • 9th-12th place: $50,000
  • 13th-16th place: $25,000
  • 17th-24th place: $15,000

Teams participating in this event will qualify through the Gamers Without Borders event for April 30-May 4, 2023.

Tournament Format

According to the official announcement, the tournament will continue with the same format that was played in the 2022 edition, i.e., matches will be played in a format of:

  • 3 vs. 3
  • 2 vs. 2
  • 1 vs. 1

In the Group Stage, we will have four groups of six teams, playing in a Double Elimination format with best-of-five (BO5) matches.

The two best teams from each group, the eight best teams from the Group Phase, advance to the tournament’s playoffs.

The Playoffs will be played in a single elimination format, with all matches played in a best-of-7 (BO7) format.

The innovative format used in the 2022 edition of Gamers8 is as follows:

Game 1

The first game will be played 3v3.

Game 2

The loser of the first match chooses the game mode they wish to play in their second match, i.e., 2v2 or 1v1.

Game 3

Like Game 1, the third match will be played 3v3.

Game 4

The game mode will be the one not selected in Game 2.

Game 5

Like Games 1 and 3, the fifth match will be played 3v3.

For this 2023 edition, we will see if FURIA Esports can revalidate its title obtained in 2022 or if Guild Esports, Team Falcons, or Faze Clan can snatch it. However, we still don’t know which teams will participate in this tournament. So, we invite you to stay tuned to all the information we will publish.
