The emotions of the last Major in the CS:GO era are about to end, and as always, we witnessed many surprises throughout the tournament. This time we saw how Team GamerLegion beat Team Heroic (No. 1 in the world, according to HLTV) to qualify for the Paris Major Grand Final. On the other hand, Team Vitality did the same, crushed Apeks by 2-0, and sealed their ticket to the tournament’s final.

There is no doubt that the Cinderella run that Monte could not complete, Team GamerLegion did; for a while, they may not win the Grand Final match, and what they have achieved so far is a huge accomplishment. Meanwhile, Team Vitality is the only Level 1 team that has demonstrated throughout the Major that they are at a great level of play.

Let’s see what happened in the semifinals of the BLAST.tv Paris Major.

Team GamerLegion pull off a surprise by applying a reverse sweep to beat Heroic

Undoubtedly, the Cinderella race of this Paris Major has landed at the feet of Team GamerLegion. The guys, led by Polish Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek, achieved an extraordinary feat by defeating one of the most compact teams in CS:GO, Heroic, after a spectacular reverse sweep. However, the motivation and desire to win outweighed the experience and power of a lineup that is undoubtedly one of the best in the world.

Ancient (Team GamerLegion)

It all started in Ancient, GamerLegion’s map pick, where we enjoyed a truly spectacular match that a lethal offensive by Heroic defined. GamerLegion started strong on their T-side with an excellent 10-5 partial victory. However, at the change of sides, Heroic, by the hand of Martin “stavn” Lund and Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard, managed an extraordinary comeback to take the victory on the map by 16-13.

Inferno (Heroic)

In Inferno, again, we enjoyed a balanced match where either team could have won. But, again, Team GamerLegion started with an impressive level of play on their CT side, as they managed to win the first half by 9-6.

However, this time it was not the same as in Ancient because, although Heroic started to win rounds in the change of sides, the guys from Team GamerLegion, led by Mihai “iM” Ivan, managed to take the victory by a tight 16-14.

Mirage (decider)

Finally, the teams moved to Mirage, the decider map, where Team GamerLegion demonstrated their excellent level and completed their reverse sweep with a crushing 16-6 victory.

The first half was all for Team GamerLegion, as iM and Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand were impeccable in overcoming Heroic’s defense. With a 10-5 lead, GL managed to put up an impenetrable defense to take an excellent 16-6 victory, eliminate the #1 team in the world and make history by qualifying for the grand final of the Paris Major.

Team Vitality deliver and crush Apeks 2-0

Unlike Heroic, Team Vitality lived up to the predictions by taking a convincing 2-0 win over Apeks to seal their ticket to the grand final. Lotan “Spinx” Giladi and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut led their team to victory in the semifinals.

Mirage (Apeks)

The semifinal started in Mirage, the map pick of Apeks, where we could enjoy an extremely exciting match that had to be defined in the last rounds. Team Vitality started on the CT side and got a partial victory by 8-7 in the first half. Then, however, the Apeks boys started to react as Team Vitality scored 14-9 in their favor.

Ultimately, Apeks couldn’t completely hold off Vitality’s attacks and lost 14-16.

Vertigo (Team Vitality)

In Vertigo, we could enjoy more of the same, as Team Vitality started with everything on their T-side to take a partial victory by 10-5. However, contrary to what many might think, Apeks reacted immediately and scored 10-10 after 20 rounds.

Finally, with an immense Emil “Magisk” Reif in defense, Team Vitality managed to win six of the last eight rounds played to take the victory by 16-12 and seal their ticket to the grand final of the BLAST.tv Paris Major.
