The last match of the Quarterfinals of the BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023 left us with an excellent victory of G2 Esports by 2-1 against OG. As a result, G2 Esports stay alive in the tournament and qualify for the semifinals, where they will face Cloud9. OG, meanwhile, bowed out of the Fall Finals, having played only one match in the qualifiers.

G2 Esports was indeed a clear favorite to win this series. However, the team’s level of play has been far below expectations in recent weeks. That’s why OG was close to hitting and eliminating them in this first round. In addition, G2 Esports had to pull out their caste and appeal to the individual level of Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač to win this series.

On the other hand, OG showed firmness and determination in this match, mainly thanks to Nemanja “nexa” Isakovićm, who deployed all his potential to keep the team alive at all times. However, their efforts were insufficient, leaving the tournament empty-handed.

Let’s see what happened in the match between G2 Esports and OG on October 5, 2023.

G2 Esports beat OG by 2-1

The series between G2 Esports and OG was balanced from start to finish. However, G2 Esports took advantage of the high huNter- level to win by 2-1.

The series took place in Mirage, Ancient, and Inferno.

Mirage

It all started in Mirage, OG’s map pick, where we witnessed an extraordinary comeback by G2 Esports to take the victory by 16-11.

In the first half, OG started winning the first five rounds on their T Side, which greatly worried the G2 Esports defense. Eventually, G2 could win only 5 rounds in the first half to start this map down 5-10.

However, this changed completely at the change of sides, as G2’s offense, commanded by Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov and Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen, led the team to come back on the scoreboard and, after 12 rounds (11-1) they managed to seal their victory by 16-11.

Ancient

Next, the teams moved to Ancient, the G2 Esports map pick, where we witnessed yet another comeback, but this time at the hands of OG.

In the first half, G2 started very well on their T Side to take a partial victory by 8-7. However, this would remain there, as, at the change of sides, OG relied on Dion “FASHR” Derksen and Nils “k1to” Gruhne to complete an excellent comeback to take the 16-13 victory. As a result, the series was tied 1-1, and the third and final map was forced.

Inferno

Finally, the teams met on Inferno, a map that certainly could have gone to either team. However, G2 Esports stuck out their chests and made their status as favorites respected to take the victory with a resounding score of 16-7.

In the first half, things remained somewhat balanced, as G2 Esports could only take the partial victory by 9-6. However, at the change of sides, everything changed, as G2 implemented a spectacular defense to prevent all OG approaches and take a solid victory by 16-7.

Thanks to this victory, G2 Esports advances to the tournament’s semifinals and will face Cloud9 next Saturday, October 7, 2023.
