League investigators found that an ex-MLBB pro in the country was found guilty of match fixing in the ongoing MPL Malaysia Season 13.

In a statement posted on MPL Malaysia’s official Facebook page, the league found Nik “Dominus” Muhyyiddin guilty of two counts of engaging in match fixing, and two counts of offering financial incentives to two Bountee Esports players by throwing a match.

“As the nation’s longest-running esports league, MPL Malaysia upholds the highest standards of professionalism and conduct. This includes taking a zero-tolerance approach towards match-fixing, per the league’s Rule Book – “No Team Member may offer, agree, conspired, or attempt to influence the outcome of a Game or Match by any means that are prohibited by law or these Rules” (12.2.14). Our position is supported by the National Esports Development Guideline (NESDEG), introduced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) in 2023; Chapter 3 “prohibits all forms of fraud, manipulation, and corruption in esports activities,” MPL Malaysia said in its statement.

Dominus has therefore been suspended from all MOONTON-sanctioned events and tournaments for one year, ending on April 18, 2025. The suspension covers the main MPL Malaysia, the MLBB Academy League or MAL Malaysia, and any and all events endorsed by MOONTON Games, effectively benching him from pro play for a year.

Dominus has yet to issue a response nor has he responded to Fragster’s requests for comment. He was once one of MPL Malaysia’s best players, having played for Bountee Esports and Geek Fam MY, and was MPL MYSG Season 3 Finals MVP.

Meanwhile, Bountee Esports has been let off the hook following the investigation.

“Bountee Esports was not found to have committed any infractions. However, the team has committed to strengthening its operations and management in cooperation with the league,” MPL Malaysia said in its statement.

Bountee Esports also issued their own statement regarding the matter, saying they have put to key things in place to make sure these instances do not happen again, including enhanced oversight of their competitive engagements, training and awareness programs focusing on ethical conduct, and increasing lines of community engagement to let the community know what is going on within their team.

“Our team will continue to conduct itself with the highest ethical standards, and we pledge to maintain a culture of respect and professionalism in all our endeavors, personally and professionally,” Bountee Esports said in its statement. “This experience has also brought the team closer and we aim to be supportive of one another’s efforts as one team, one family.”

MPL Malaysia organizers say they will redouble their efforts to prevent match-fixing and other similar incidents from happening again in the league.

“Moving forward, the league will redouble our efforts on team engagements to ensure that the players are thoroughly cared for and increase education on good practices and values for teams to foster safe, healthy, and respectful sporting environments for their members,” organizers said.

“The well-being of each and every participant in MPL Malaysia matters. It is crucial for us to step up efforts for the national esports landscape this year, with Malaysia set to welcome the top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams as the host of the M6 World Championship,” MPL Malaysia added.
