The winners of VCT Champions 2023 have come back with an entirely new roster ahead of 2024. Two members of the title-winning squad are retained in the team.

Evil Geniuses Ahead Of 2024

Evil Geniuses officially announced their Valorant roster for the 2024 VCT season, with Alexander “jawgemo” Mor and Christine “potter” Chi staying in the organization. Additionally, four new faces make it into the team:

The Evil Geniuses roster for 2024:

  • Alexander “jawgemo” Mor
  • Derrek “Derrek” Ha
  • Nicholas “NaturE” Garrison
  • Phat “supamen” Le
  • Vincent “Apoth” Le
  • Christine “potter” Chi (Coach)

At first glance, it’s pretty awesome that all six members of the new Evil Geniuses squad are of Asian descent but will continue to play in the North American region.

Who Are The New Players?

A storied organization like Evil Geniuses wouldn’t pick up some no-named players.

Derrek is an ex-100 Thieves player who had been in his previous team for a year and a half. He got to play with huge names such as Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk and Sean “bang” Bezerra. Unfortunately, he and the team could not achieve many results during their time together.

NaturE will take on the in-game leader role in the new Evil Geniuses squad. He previously had stints with Immortals, Gen.G, and TSM, among well-established esports organizations.

Supamen played with Derrek in Rise from 2021 to 2022, so the two players will already have some chemistry. Supamen went on to play for FaZe Clan for around half a year but achieved minimal results.

Finally, the last piece of the puzzle is Apoth, who has already played for Evil Geniuses throughout 2022. He was moved to an inactive position to make room for the lineup that would eventually win VCT Champions 2023.

Drama Surrounding Evil Geniuses

Though the roster seemed promising, the real issue lies in the Evil Geniuses organization itself. The North American organization has been around for a long time, winning numerous world-class titles throughout multiple divisions. However, the Evil Geniuses management does not have the most remarkable reputation.

After winning VCT Champions 2023, the organization tried to reduce their players’ pay cuts by almost half, resulting in most of the title-winning lineup leaving the organization.

Dota 2 player Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan, who helped Evil Geniuses win Dota 2’s The International 5, is also trying to sue the organization for fraud. Evil Geniuses also dropped their Counter-Strike roster and ultimately left the esport.

So, there’s a lot of stuff surrounding Evil Geniuses, so it is surprising to many fans that they could still piece together a Valorant roster. People are also wondering why jawgemo and potter stayed in the organization.

Organizational factors aside, the Evil Geniuses Valorant roster seems promising and, with their proven coach, has the potential to achieve greatness.
