European language broadcasts boost VALORANT Masters Madrid viewership: Esports Charts

European viewership in VALORANT esports boomed during Masters Madrid, according to data from esports statistics provider Esports Charts.

Kamel “Kameto” Kebir, the owner of Karmine Corp, was one of the key drivers in the overall VCT Masters Madrid viewership, with the French language stream viewership numbers in the tournament’s first stage jumping by close to 2000% according to Esports Charts’ data.

“Its peak concurrent viewership figures across the first stage jumped by a huge 1982.4%, while the watch time saw a leap of 391.9%,” Esports Charts said in its report.

Esports Charts also noted a 411% jump in Portugese-language broadcasts due to the ongoing participation of LOUD from the Latin American region.

The Spanish-language community broadcasts of the tournament, meanwhile, also saw a 351.3% increase, attributed mostly toÓscar “mixwell” Cañellas’ rebroadcast of Masters Madrid in his home country.

Peak views for English, meanwhile, increased by 113.4% based on Esports Charts’ data.

The team also noticed a steep decline in viewership from the traditionally strong Japanese market.

“Japanese’s fall was pretty pronounced, hitting 49.1%, while its watch time saw an even bigger decline of 74.9%. The lack of a team from this country, and the awkward broadcast times that were geared more towards appealing to the European and American audiences, meant that viewers were not that inclined to catch the live action,” Esports Charts noted in its reports.

As of press time, Masters Madrid is currently the the third highest-viewed Masters tournament, following both editions of Masters 2021 in Reykjavik, which garnered over 1 million peak views.

As for updated tournament statistics, the day 3 match between VCT Americas Kickoff champion Sentinels and Karmine Corp was the highest-viewed so far, with a viewership total of close to 879,000 peak viewers. Sentinels was able to win the match, 2-0, to advance directly to the Playoffs, while Karmine Corp will face Paper Rex for a knockout phase slot.
