According to a statement from ESL, a professional Showmatch on Valve’s much-awaited CS2 will take place before the ESL Pro League Season 17 championship match.

Today marks the conclusion of the seventeenth season of the ESL Pro League, and the renowned CS: GO competition will feature a unique event before the championship match. ESL has arranged a Counter-Strike 2 show match before the league grand final match between FaZe Clan and Cloud9.

With their victory over ENCE in the first Semi-Final, Cloud9 became the first finalist of the competition, while FaZe’s 2-1 victory over Na’Vi in the second Semi-Final gave them the final Grand Final slot.  Although the rosters for the offline show match have not yet been determined, they are likely to include players from eliminated ESL Pro League Season 17 teams. The show match will probably take place on Dust2, the sole map that has been made available for play so far in the limited test.

Fans are eager to find out more about CS2, the upcoming huge update to the years-old Counter-Strike Global Offensive, which has been running on Source 1 engine since its debut. Valve released 3 different clips on Wednesday to unveil Counter-Strike 2, each of which included a description of the new features, smoke mechanisms, and map updates.

The full version of CS2 will be released this summer, but a limited test version has already been made available to a limited set of invited players. Those participating in the beta are permitted to produce content about the game, so the rest of the community may follow along via videos and live broadcasts while they wait for more information to be revealed about the finished product.

A night full of CS:GO action

The ESL Pro League Season 17 grand final mark Cloud9’s first title-deciding matchup since a first-place run through IEM Dallas close to a year ago. If they want to win the competition and add a second notch to their Intel Grand Slam belt, the Russian team will have to overcome FaZe.

FaZe, on the other hand, will have the opportunity to win the Intel Grand Slam Season 4 championship, which has eluded them three times at the IEM Rio Major, IEM Katowice 2023, and ESL Pro League Season 16 finals. The grand final will take place at the InterContinental in St. Julian’s, Malta, after the show match, which starts at 2:25 PM (CEST). Both events will be televised on the official ESL Pro League Season 17 channels.
