Team Vitality had a bumpy road to victory in group A of BLAST Premier Spring Groups, but in the end, they managed to claim what was rightfully theirs. The team that managed to upset them in the upper bracket Final was Astralis, who proved to be much stronger than in 2023.

This group had four teams: Vitality, Astralis, Falcons, and OG. The last two of them did not stand a chance against the first two. And yet, in the lower bracket Final, Team Falcons managed to beat Vitality on the first map despite being the underdog and two rounds behind after the first half.

OG looked very weak, not just against Vitality but also against Falcons. Their performance clearly showed why they are ranked just 37th globally at the moment.

Without any roster changes or other internal improvements, there’s a high chance that OG will fail in every single tournament this season. In a worst-case scenario, we might even see OG dropping the roster completely.

Vitality’s road to victory

Vitality started BLAST Premier Spring Groups with a match against OG. The scores were 13 – 0 on Mirage and 13 – 7 on Inferno. On the first map, ZywOo had a rating 2.0 of 2.39, which is absurdly high. His KD score was 17 – 4.

Vitality’s toughest opponent, Astralis, managed to win the next match thanks to winning the first map, Mirage. The score was very close: 10 – 13. On the second map, Vitality won with ease, 13 – 6. Everything was decided on the third map. And, in a rather unusual way, Vitality were completely outmatched: 4 – 13.

During the entire duration of the match, ZywOo was exceptionally good, ending with a score of 57 – 34 and an ADR of 95.9, easily the best on the server. For Astralis, stavn was the best player. But everyone apart from Staehr played really well.

In the lower bracket Final, Vitality lost 16 – 19 on Nuke against Falcons, but then defeated them on Vertigo (13 – 9) and Anubis (13 – 8). This was a very important morale victory for Vitality because their coach and one of their players left just a few months ago to join Falcons.

In the Grand Final, Astralis won the first map once again: 13 – 10. But on the second and third, Vitality proved to be stronger. On Mirage, the score was 14 – 16. Nuke was a one-sided battle: 6 – 13. Just as we expected, ZywOo carried his team once more, finishing with a score of 65 – 39 / 1.50.
