DreamLeague is quickly becoming one of the most prestigious Dota 2 series outside of the Dota Pro Circuit. The 21st edition of the tournament has been announced, and its prize pool will be $1 million.

Having had the pleasure to watch the last several editions, this will certainly be a great event and an excellent opportunity for the participants to test their skills one more time before The International 12.

DreamLeague S21 is scheduled to take place between September 18-24. This is great news for BetBoom and their BetBoom Dacha event, which will take place between September 10-16. Since there will be no overlap, we can watch all of the action, and the teams can compete in all of it.

We know that there will be some overlap between the list of participants who will compete in BetBoom Dacha and the competitors from DreamLeague S21. The most important teams that will compete in both events are Gaimin Gladiators, 9Pandas, Team Spirit, Quest Esports, and BetBoom Team.

List of participants

DreamLeague S21 will have 12 participants in total and 10 of them are already known.

  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Team Spirit
  • Talon Esports
  • Evil Geniuses
  • Shopify Rebellion
  • 9Pandas
  • Team Liquid
  • BetBoom Team
  • Quest Esports
  • Tundra Esports

The final two teams will be decided in the coming weeks.

All of the 10 teams that are on this list are very strong, and nine of them are already qualified for The International 12. In the case of Quest Esports, we’ll find out whether they’ll be at TI12 or not very soon, because the WEU Qualifier starts in just a few days.

Given the results obtained by these competitors during the first seven months of 2023, it’s hard not to regard most of them as capable of winning the competition. However, Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid, Team Spirit, and BetBoom are one step ahead of everyone else.

Most likely, one of them will end up winning the trophy. But which one? It seems that they all play at different levels based on the importance of the tournament they’re in and its location.

Online events tend to favor Gaimin Gladiators and the CIS teams. Offline events can sometimes change the natural pecking order because the atmosphere created by the screaming fans can be overwhelming. In Dota 2, one small mistake can cost you the game. And not everyone is tough enough to deal with the pressure.
