Tour 1 of the new Dota Pro Circuit is likely to be exciting, at least based on the teams that will compete in Division I of each region. In Eastern Europe, the battle will take place between no less than six strong teams.

We usually see a battle between three or four teams. But this time, qualifying for the DPC Majors will be very difficult for every participant. There are three spots reserved for the region and the battle starts on January 9.

The matches take place over a three-week period and the format is single round-robin. Luckily, every match is a best-of-three series, which means we’ll get to see the teams competing without the usual pressure of the best-of-one format.

EEU Division I Participants

Division I of Eastern Europe’s Tour 1 features these eight teams:

  • Team Spirit
  • Natus Vincere
  • Virtus.pro
  • Darkside
  • BetBoom Team
  • HellRaisers
  • Nemiga Gaming
  • One Move

The first six of these teams are very strong. Arguably, the best competitors in the region are Team Spirit, BetBoom Team, and Darkside. But Na’Vi, Virtus.pro, and HellRaisers could easily cause some upsets.

In Team Spirit’s case, we’re talking about a former TI winner. This team can rely on the services of one of the best carry players in the world. At just 19 years old, Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk is a phenomenon. Very few position 1 players can do what he does and it’s clear that he’s mastered every element of the game, at least for his role.

Perhaps the best team on the list is BetBoom. The organization decided to rebuild its Dota 2 roster after The International 11 and signed some of the most talented players in the world. It remains to be seen if these players can actually play well together.

There’s always a question mark when a new roster is built from scratch. If the players don’t like or don’t understand each other well, the whole team will suffer as a result. We’ve already seen just how powerful friendship can be when it comes to winning tournaments.

Over the last five years, The International was mostly won by friends playing Dota and less by esports organizations.

One team that will be fun to watch in 2023 is Darkside. And that’s because three of their players are world-class competitors who won numerous titles and even Majors:

  • Roman “RAMZES” Kushnarev
  • Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosian
  • Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev

Together, these three players could potentially qualify for the Majors and there’s no reason why they should fail. Only two teams in the region are stronger than their team and even that is not certain.
