DreamLeague Season 22 has set records both for the franchise and for Dota 2 esports in 2024, according to data from esports statistics provider Esports Charts.

Esports Charts noted in its report that all matches from DreamLeague Season 22 generated a whopping 25.7 million hours watched – the best ever in series history. Compared to Season 20, with which Season 22 had a similar format, increases in viewership hours is “precisely related” to the growth in average number of viewers.

The tournament was memorable for the Dota 2 community with some of the top Western European teams failing to qualify even from the group stages. Team Liquid, Team Secret and Tundra, for example, did not go past group stage one, while OG and Gaimin Gladiators were knocked out of the second group stage. This was a shocker for fans of most European teams – a region considered by many as the most competitive for Dota 2.

The Grand finals match between Team Falcons and BetBoom Gaming was the most-viewed tournament of DreamLeague Season 22, averaging a peak of 310,205 viewers.

Team Falcons was able to sweep the best-of-5 grand finals against BetBoom Gaming, 3-0.

Second in the list was a matchup between OG and 2023 The International Champion Team Spirit, which drew over 309,000 peak views. Team Spirit also had two more in the five most watched matches: one against Chinese team Xtreme Gaming on March 9th which drew 298,088 viewers, and another versus Gaimin Gladiators which drew over 295,000 peak views.

Rounding out the list is a BetBoom Gaming versus Xtreme Gaming match which happened last March 10th and drew over 267,000 peak views.

“The average viewership for DreamLeague Season 22 was 155K concurrent viewers. Compared to the previous tournament, this figure remained almost unchanged, although the broadcast time for these seasons differed by almost half. The most popular match of DreamLeague Season 22 was the final series between Team Falcons and BetBoom Team. It attracted 310.2K peak viewers, which is 20% less than the most popular match in DreamLeague Season 21,” Esports Charts noted.

Esports Charts’ data also shows that DreamLeague Season 22 became the fifth tournament in the series’ history in terms of peak viewership. Season 13 still remains the most-watched ever in history, with over 473,500 peak views.

“Outside of the DreamLeague series, Season 22 currently ranks as the second most popular Dota 2 tournament in 2024 — only surpassed by the recently concluded BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024,” Esports Charts noted.
