After an excellent run at the VCT Americas 2023, Evil Geniuses got their long-awaited ticket to the second international event of the VCT 2023 season, the Masters Tokyo. However, in the last few days, there were many rumors that the team would not take their prominent talent that helped them so much in the regular season, Max “Demon1” Mazanov.

Contrary to what many imagined in the past few days, Evil Geniuses has confirmed that they will be playing with their full lineup at Masters Tokyo, including the promising and rising star, Demon1.

Evil Geniuses confirms that Demon1 will play the Tokyo Masters

Evil Geniuses has confirmed via a Tweet on their official account that the young sensation of the team and the VALORANT NA scene, Demon1, will be playing with the team at Masters Tokyo.

Demon1 came to the team mid-season when EG had trouble finding game consistency. However, with his arrival, Evil Geniuses made a radical change in how they played, so much so that he was a fundamental part of the team in their run to finish in the top three of the tournament.

This news is a pleasant surprise for all VALORANT fans in North America who are waiting with great excitement for the start of the Tokyo Masters. Also, remember that Demon1 declared several weeks ago that he could not attend Masters Tokyo with Evil Geniuses.

When EG defeated Cloud9 in the Upper Bracket semifinals of the VCT Americas League playoffs, Demon1 confirmed to fans that he could not travel to Japan with the team. Even though EG had sealed his ticket to Masters Tokyo, we could see how Demon1 was completely disappointed on stage.

Passport and visa problems solved at the last minute

Now, when we all thought it was a fact that EG would travel without Demon1, we were surprised by this excellent news. According to the player in one of his latest streams, he received his passport and visa just a few hours ago, allowing him to make the trip to Japan to play the Tokyo Masters.

As we mentioned, Demon1 has been a mainstay for Evil Geniuses in their improvement throughout the season. After EG started the VCT Americas League with an 0-2 record, the organization decided to replace Brendan “BcJ” Jensen with Demon1, which radically changed the team’s chemistry and results, as they finished the season with a 4-3 record.

However, EG depended on a miracle to qualify for the playoffs, and it came, as MIBR defeated 100T to qualify. Then, in the first match of the playoffs, Demon1 showed all its potential by getting 73 kills in three maps to beat NRG. Then, they crushed Cloud9 2-0 and gave a very nice battle against LOUD in the Upper Bracket final.

Finally, EG lost in the Lower Bracket final to NRG to end a spectacular comeback in the VCT Americas League 2023 regular season.

Now, all eyes are on the VCT Masters Tokyo 2023, which will kick off on June 10, 2023.
