The movements continue in the different organizations of the Overwatch League in the offseason regarding their lineups for the 2023 season. There is no doubt that this OWL offseason has been precarious for veteran players, as teams want new blood in their squads.

Organizations are hopeful for a prosperous future and believe they can start their journey with young, talented players. There is no doubt that rookies will be a crucial part of the sixth season of the OWL. However, it should be noted that some veterans are not leaving their thrones anytime soon.

Dante “Danteh” Cruz joins the Los Angeles Gladiators.

On January 19, the California-based Los Angeles Gladiators announced the signing of veteran player Dante “Danteh” Cruz to fill the tank position. This is one of the few Overwatch players who has participated in each of the five seasons and is undoubtedly a perennial fan favorite.

To this, the experienced player felt very grateful for the opportunity that this new organization was giving him at this point in his career and said:

“There were only a few teams I wanted to join this year and I was lucky enough to find a home on one of them. super excited to focus on tank this season and i’ll do my best to make good results! 💜 #shieldsup”

About Dante “Danteh” Cruz

Dante “Danteh” Cruz is a 25-year-old North American professional Overwatch player. He began his professional career in 2017 and has played for several teams. The Houston Outlaws and the San Francisco Shock included.

With the Houston Outlaws, Danteh spent four seasons and was considered one of the mainstays of the lineup. He started his first season in the OWL with the San Francisco Shock but was traded to the Outlaws before the start of his second season.

Danteh is also a very flexible player, as he can choose new heroes for new goals in the game.

Last year, with the release of Overwatch 2, Danteh decided to move into the Tank role, selecting Doomfist. As the season progressed, the experienced player added more tank heroes to his repertoire, eventually becoming Houston’s de facto tank player.

Future of the Gladiators

Now, the Gladiators’ mission with the signing of the veteran player, Danteh, is for him to be their primary tank. This could mean that the player may have changed his role in Overwatch 2.

The Californian organization confirmed that only Kevin “Kevster” Persson and veteran Support Daniel “FunnyAstro” Hathaway would remain in the lineup for 2023. In addition, last month, the Gladiators signed Mun “Lastro” Jung-won, also from the Outlaws.

The Los Angeles Gladiators lineup is as follows:

  • Kevin “kevster” Persson
  • Daniel “FunnyAstro” Hathaway
  • Mun “Lastro” Jung-won
  • Dante “Danteh” Cruz
