Another day, another slew of announcements — this time we’ve been given a glimpse at a couple of brand-new Dive and Bilgewater cards from the upcoming Monuments of Power set in Legends of Runeterra! That, as expected, includes a new Bilgewater landmark! So let’s get down to the nitty-gritty and see what’s in store!

First of all, we have “The Slaughter Docks” — a 3 mana Landmark with a Round Start effect. At the start of each round, you can toss a card from your deck. If you’re Deep, however, you can destroy this landmark to summon a random Sea Monster. This effect is quite interesting as it can speed up your path towards the Deep state of the game. By tossing a card each round, you’ll ramp up a lot faster than most expect. This is basically an early game catalyst, a card that’ll accelerate things considerably. Its Deep effect is also quite threatening, depending on which Sea Monsters you have in your deck. So for the meager cost of just three mana crystals, you’ll be getting a twofold effect, both of which are highly beneficial to the success of your deck.

Next up, we have “Sunk Cost” — an eight mana Slow spell that’ll shuffle a unit or landmark into your deck. Eight mana is quite a lot, but this effect could seriously come in handy on the off-chance that you’ve tossed most of your important cards.

Lounging Lizard” is a 3 mana unit 3 | 5 and the Elusive keyword. At the start of each round, this unit automatically takes two damage. So, in short, it’s quite strong for the asking price, but it has a timer attached to it. In any case, an interesting filler card.

Fortune Croaker” is a 2 mana unit with 2 | 3. Once played, this unit and another ally take 1 damage and you get to draw a card. Overall, quite a nice effect that’ll speed things up.

Boxtopus” is a 2 mana unit with 3 | 4 and the Challenger keyword. Once played, it automatically takes 3 damage, therefore leaving it with just one HP. Still, with 3 power, it can remove opposing units with relative ease, all for just two mana crystals. Overall, a lot stronger than you’d expect.

Crusty Codger” is a 1 mana unit with 2 | 4. Once played, it automatically takes 2 damage, therefore ending up with two HP.

Legends of Runeterra Deep Dive Bilgewater Crumble

One of the upcoming Bilgewater cards from the Monuments of Power set. (shipping to live servers on October 14th)

Crumble” is where things get really interesting. It’s a 5 mana Slow spell. After playing it, you get to kill one of your units and then, in exchange, kill either an opposing unit or landmark. This, in short, will be huge. Clearing opposing units is great and all, but having a Bilgewater-specific way of removing Landmarks will almost definitely nudge Deep decks back into the meta.

Closing Remarks

Overall, if you’re a fan of Deep Dive decks and Bilgewater, this is like Christmas, your birthday, and New Year’s Eve rolled up into one! Some of these cards are absolutely huge, and we’re also getting Tahm Kench (either with this set or in the December one). In any case, Landmarks are bound to leave a mark in Legends of Runeterra, and Deep Dive decks will surely prosper as a result.
